Republican Gov. Chris Sununu said Sunday that Republicans should focus on criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris' policy record rather than engaging in personal attacks against her in the race for the White House.

On the campaign trail this past week, former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, attacked Harris repeatedly, calling her "a lunatic" and a "threat to democracy" who "would be the most radical, far left extremist to ever occupy the White House."


Republicans should "stick to the issues, stick with unity, stick with positivity" during this campaign.

Lol. That is an impossible ask for trump

He didn't say that. And if he did, he didn't mean that. And if he did, you didn't understand it. And if you did, it's not a big deal. And if it is, others have said worse. He didn't say that, his words were taken out of context. And if he did, he was just joking.

This is a great post. I'm going to piggy back it real quick.

Sure, I'll agree that people are taking Trumps words out of context to make it seem like he's going to ban elections, which on its face is false right? but if you take in his whole speech, considering the reality you've described above, isn't he implicitly suggesting something similar?

The elections are broken sure, but he's talking about fixing a problem that doesn't exist to ensure that christians won't have to vote again and they'd still win. His "fix" in practice would break elections so badly that he and his racist buddies would win all future elections. I mean I'm just saying that I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch about taking this quote out of context. It's just a quick and snappy shorthand to get to the same conclusion.

"The Left" would not praise him because the left is anti-capitalist. You're talking about Liberals who are capitalists and like capitalists who are on their side.

This is yet another direct example of how the accumulation of capital buys influence so outsized that he could potentially affect the outcome of elections on his own.

Yes, then it depends on, and we will see, just how deep his cult goes and how strong those loyalties are. All it takes is some national guard leader or a general or 2 to generate some real resistance and the American Civil War part 2 is on.

Going to be a challenge for Trumptards to insurrect with Biden/Harris holding the keys to the military. Localized rioting is pretty much a given I think. Because rioting for civil rights is bad but rioting for The Rapist is good. Then Republican governors will have to put down those riots. Could be a complete and total implosion of the Republican party.

I reckon @str8line is closer to the money, you might get some rioting, some shootings maybe a far right terror act or two but I think its unlikely that the military get involved.

Yeah but what is ridiculous beyond belief, and terrifying, is that you simply cannot entirely rule all military involvement out.
 
The anxiety I had one month ago is fading quickly. As long as Kamala acts like a moderate and stays away from any Howard Dean shriek-type moments The Rapist is going down in flames.

Ya the great thing for whoever the Democratic nominee is, is that you can mostly sit back and let trump do his thing. Biden won by staying in the basement and keeping his head down and letting trump do all the work.

I mean the Democrat still needs to, and still should, try to present their plans for the future. But trump out there douching it up is really really nice for the Democratic candidate.

Oh its completely nuts, I have the luxury of living on the other side of the world so Im not super concerned. I don't think the military get involved in creating a Trump dictatorship to be honest, if anything I would think their only role would be in restoring order and putting down an insurrection. And the thing to think about is why would a general seize power and then hand it over to Trump? The more likely scenario is they seize power for themselves then murder Trump. I don't see this happening, even in the most unlikely of scenarios.
