Good idea to not put who picked the teams. Good way to try to eliminate people voting based on the team owner.

This is a tough one. I say team C has the best starters by a decent amount and team Q has the much better bench.

I'm going with team C.

Close one. Both have cool compositions but I just like Q’s more even though C has a talent edge.

Really close one. I went with team C for now because I love the Kareem and KG combo. I'm not sure about the Butler, Harden, Isiah combo because they are all at their best when dominating the ball.

Only one I trust on C is Thomas. Harden in the playoffs sucks and is the farthest thing from being clutch. Bird and Stockton are some of the more clutch performers in nba history.
I mean, C does have Kareem, but Q has 2 of the greatest assist men in history. Bird and Stockton could set ME up for shots.

I think it’s strange that Bird is no longer thought as a top 5 player in the history of the game. He was a gamer, straight baller Prescription. Pass shoot dribble rebound defend and absolute baller

I think it’s easy (and lazy) to just seem him as a white stiff. But he was an absolute killer and one of the absolute most skilled players ever.

I don't remember who said it, but he wasn't the best shooter, the best rebounder, the best passer, he was just the best. Like, he did EVERYTHING at an insanely high level. (And, frankly, his mental games/trash talk were probably #1 in the history of the game.)

Yeah if had the advantages of training and shooting focus of today he would be dominant on levels we cannot imagine. Jokic X 5. Bird is criminally under-rated.

But in his era he was one of the best in all of that. Ranked in the top 10 if not top 5 in multiple statistical categories nearly every year. His shooting was insane for his era. Bring him up in today's NBA with modern training techniques and a focus on positionless play and 3-point shooting that was already something he was doing decades ahead of his time and his dominance would be approaching Jordan levels. Skills translate, and can be augmented by training and game-planning. Give him training and game-planning focused on extracting the most from his skills in the modern NBA and he would be a beast the likes of which we would rarely see. Imagine if he had the green light from 3 and was launching a dozen of them a game with focus on getting him open. He was a fantastic off the dribble shooter, and catch and shoot was text-book. His percentages would rise across the board. Crazy how under-rated he is.

MJ
LeBron
Kareem
Magic
Bird

Is still a perfectly legitimate top 5, but he can't pass any of those 4 above him, and there are a ton of amazing players who are legitimate challengers for that #5 spot. I don't think it is disrespectful, Bird's legacy is assured, I don't see anyone hating on him. Top 5 in history is a ridiculously exclusive club. If someone wanted to put Duncan, Shaq, Russell, etc. ahead of Bird is that really so blasphemous?

I'd rather have Durant or Curry in my top-5 lineup. Maybe in place of Magic instead of Bird.

Bird imo is right behind Jordan at #2. His skill set is insane and his numbers had he played today would be insanely off the charts. He was a roofed up Jockic and imagine what he would do in todays spaceing

I’d also take Kareem Abdul-Jabbar off the list and add Hakeem Olajuwon in my eyes. He’s the greatest Senate to ever play the game put Hakeem on any of Kareem‘s teams as stacked as they were. God knows how many championships he’d have, he played on some pretty bad teams and still made noise in the western conference. He was as perfect as center as we’ve ever seen play. The only thing he didn’t have was three-point shooting, and quite frankly had he played in today’s era. He probably would be a good three-point shooter with the shooting stroke displayed in games.

The Hakeem argument is much easier to buy than the case you’re trying to make for Bird. But you do you, of course.

The main reason I think Bird belongs is he would be dominant in any era. I am not sure you can say that about Magic. His floor spacing was just bad. And in a world where the pure point guard is fading out, the combo-everything-forward reigns supreme. Bird is a force in every era. In the modern era I could see a Durant or Steph in that PG role. but still is hard to displace Magic in that regard. Not many players are truly every-position players, like Magic, although Bird was arguably just as versatile. It is amazing those 2 came on the scene at exactly the same time though, right? I could even see Kareem displaced on this list depending on the expectations from the center position. Is Jokic really that far off, considering everything he is capable of? It is crazy to try to put a list together like this with so many deserving players and no real way to differentiate statistically all the time.

But really, this is the best 5 that ever played the game. I could see this 5 beating any other 5 you care to put together. And have a hard time displacing any of them for anyone else out there and keeping it as dominant as it is as stands. Approved!

That would be a fun sim to see, the top 5 in history at listed above, against other top 5s.
