His confidence is obviously absent. How does the team build it back up and make him more productive and consistent? I think maybe starting for him is too much pressure given his lack of consistency. Maybe moving him to the bench would help him to get his groove back and build his confidence, where he can get into the flow of the game rather than having to create and get going from the start.

you need two more options - send him to D-league and trade him:).... obviously not going to happen so I voted move him to the bench. Playing vs lesser talent ( bench players from other teams) would do him better then going against starters all the time.

It could cost a couple of games, potentially, but I would like to see him come off the bench. Then, when put in the game, tell him to shoot and score with no worries as to missed shots. I hate to say it, but I think he's just a bit fragile (and young). He needs to come off the bench (less pressure) and be allowed to shoot his way out of his slump.

I think he should go to gym with Horny. Obviously bulking up hurt his shooting badly.

There are a million things that can impact how a player (and a very young one) catapults a ball not much smaller than a hoop into that hoop from 10-30 feet away. Hayward bulking up is probably the last thing that is his problem, having a lot of his mother in him is much higher.

Im giving him two more games to prove himself. Seeing his tweet makes me think that he's actually gonna come out with a "**** it" attitude on Friday. If the week ends, and he keeps shooting <30%, then we need to throw him on the bench, and have him regain his footing again. I still have faith in him. A lot of us are much too pessimistic on this board.

Haha, rep-ed ..

I guess that's better than the reverse, maybe.

Bulking up can screw with your shot in a big way. Not saying that is his problem but it very well could be.

Agreed, he should lay off of the ACV. All of the mother he has in him is probably messing with his tummy.

If you're still doing shooting drills on a daily basis, and stretching a lot, adding muscle doesn't actually mess with your shot.

He's been playing out of position all season IMO. He's a SG. He matches up much better with SG. Defensively, he's just not strong/physical/big enough to guard SF (remember him trying to guard Odom?). Offensively it's just harder for him to drive around wider bodies and shoot over taller bodies.

I know they wanted to play him at SF so that when Burks is ready they can play Hayward and Burks together. But round balls just don't fit into a square hole and you risk traumatizing and damaging this boy physically and mentally forever.

I'm serious.

So I'm guessing you voted for the surprise party.

I didn't see a place to vote for drafting Kawai Leonard to play SF and move Hayward to SG. But that is my vote.

I actually thought about that, or someone like Singleton? Singleton can shoot the 3pt and is a lock down defender.

I think there were a lot of disagreements in the war room when our 12th pick came up, do we go the Singleton/Leonard route or do we go Burks? KOC commented later on along the line of "there were a lot of disagreements, but in the end you can't undo scouts' work throughout the year and you have to stick to the Draft Best Player available mantra".

I guess he wanted to avoid the Darko/Wade scenario.
