Okay, I probably wont give as detailed or as long of answers as Infection, but thats because I am not much of a writer. Ill try my best to answer any question and answer as honestly as I can. Here is a brief background to me.

I grew up in Provo, UT. I was born and raised in the same house. My family was mostly Mormon as was the majority of our neighbors. I l guess that's obvious in Provo. I was super active in sports from a very young age and energetic wild child, although I did very good at school except for getting a bunch of suspensions and other issues. As a teenager I became very rebellious and was arrested a handful of times. I mostly stopped being religious as a teenager. I was kicked out of my house at 18. Just before I turned 20 I was dealing with things and had some strange inspiration to go on a Mormon mission. I served in Oregon for the full mission. It was a great experience and had some ups and downs but was real eye opening in general for me. I more or less decided to finish the mission since I committed but I basically quit Mormonism when I got home and within a short time was done with religion in general. Although religion is still a very interesting topic to me that I study a lot.

I got married to a girl I started dating at the end of high school. She was also a Mormon from South Africa. She left Mormonism after a year or so of being married. Although she was finishing her masters at BYU so kind of kept it quiet. I studied Political Science and a minor in Business with lots of plans for a masters and career stuff. I got a good job after college that paid very well and got to travel a lot with. The economy took a big hit around this time and my company did mass layoffs. My company really ****ed me over since I was buying a house and everyone at my work knew about it but they didn't tell me something bad was coming. I was the top employee so they did end up giving me a choice to stay with them at a lower position. I gave them the middle finger. After this and a few other experiences I decided business in general and work in general was awful and I was going to do something I like. I took a job managing a car repair shop while going back to school.

I got another bachelors in health and wellness. Around this time I started rebuilding old vehicles and rebuilding houses in my free time which is one of my favorite hobbies although I don't get to do much these days. Anyways, I eventually quit the car shop and started on my Masters degree in Sports Performance while taking an internship in the same field. I loved the work and really enjoyed my masters. I also really enjoyed doing studies and producing journal articles on the research. I excelled quite a bit and got hired and promoted quickly over a few years. After some rocky times with the top Sports Performance facilities in Utah I ended up starting my own business and it was great. Sometime during all of this I finally left Provo which I had resisted for years because I did enjoy in there and had a tight group of friends. Although the big move was only to SLC. Once in SLC I really loved it there and thrived. This was a great time for me! Also during this time I started going to Burning Man and despite it being a bucket list it became a pretty big part of my life and I was going every year. I shut down my relatively small business and worked hard to attempt to open a massive high end Sports Performance facility in downtown SLC initially with some partners and then I moved away from them and my wife and I decided to do it together. We got approved for a 1 million loan and were getting ready to move forward with a huge venture.

My marriage was great and I still consider her a good friend and really love our time together. But... there were some issues and I eventually made very very very hard choice to get divorced. I felt like we had been going different directions for a long time and were friends who shared a long history together but wasn't really meant to be married. But still wanting to make things work we did therapy together which made me realize I had been suppressing a lot of stuff about our relationship and that we really should move on. I really felt like she more than me needed to go a different way in life. Anyways this was pretty painful for both of us. But extremely hard for her. Its been 7 years and its still pretty rough but slowly we are still friends and talk.

Anyways since the business loan was in both of our names we ended that project. Mostly she decided it would be too hard for her to work together with me, which is fair. I debated for a long time what to do work wise. I probably couldn't get a loan on my own big enough at this point because I had my old business shut down for a year and most my work was under the table. I did more part time work in the field and finished rebuilding a 1917 house downtown SLC that I tore down to the studs and rebuilt myself. Later I was forced to sell it since I lived abroad and my ex wanted the money it was now worth which was 5X more than we bought it for and I couldn't afford to buy her half out, this one hurt a lot I loved that place. Years ago I had multiple offers from US Olympic teams and a few abroad teams but wasnt really interested since they didnt pay great. But an old co-worker reminded me that the Chinese Olympic teams had recruited me a few times and I never considered them. But contacted them again and they were very excited and made me a great offer right away. I decided to take a 1 year offer and enjoy my time and decide what to do in the future.

After getting a divorce I immediately gravitated towards polyamory and was dating a lot and felt very comfortable in this lifestyle and planned to be that way forever. I had 2 very serious girlfriends and was going on dates with new people weekly. That kind of changed when I moved to China and went on a date with my now wife. We instantly hit it off and fell in love very quickly. It took me awhile to come around to exclusively dating though. I really loved another girl a lot that was flying out to see me. But ultimately what drew me to polyamory is that its very hard for one person to fulfill all of another persons needs emotionally, physically, mentally and in other ways. My now wife really did pretty much all of that for me and so we started seriously dating. At the time I was traveling all around China helping different teams with their sports performance and sports science side of things. Covid hit while I was in China and I was on an island in a tiny city that went full lockdown and shut its borders. Fortunately my girlfriend was visiting and we got trapped together for 3 months and it was great. We decided that we wanted to be together and live together and stated making plans for that to happen. Long story short the Chinese Olympic Committee and some of the higher ups in the Sports Federation I was working with butted heads and I quit and moved to Beijing to live with my girlfriend. I started my PHD at the top university in China at Tsinghua. Life as usual was pretty great for me. I could go into lots of detail about the PHD but it didnt end up working out because of things on their end so I quit and started working with a private company that wanted to add Sports Performance to their already existing high end Sports Medicine facilities. With my connections and knowledge things took off and we did great. Downside is the company was asking more and more of me and I was working more and more and started to really dread work.

Covid had its ups and downs but things were getting rough in Beijing around the protest side and me and my now Wife decided we wanted to move to a different country. Somewhere back in the story we got married and are madly in love. I had some work available back in the US but both decided we probably didn't want to live there. Anyways she had opportunity with her work to switch from an international position which means we move every 3-6 years depending on if we like it and the location. We happily took that and left China. 1 week later China dropped all the restrictions but we were happy to leave. So that's where we are at. We live in Ethiopia right now, its a wild place but has its upside. We have 1 year until we move to either Vietnam or Kathmandu, by choice. I still work for the same Chinese company doing back end work and a lot of the sports science and data online. I go back somewhat regularly for work although the current economy in China and me being gone is really crushing our business right now. We are really happy and living a great life. We travel a lot, some for work a lot for vacation. I think we have been to 20 countries in the last 2 years. Although we have had a few rough things like my best friend passing away from brain cancer that was really rough. Life is always up and down but I am a pretty happy person.

I did not edit this so there is probably a million typos, but whatever. This is pretty long but obviously a bunch of details are missing.

Feel free to ask me any question!

Do you watch Jazz games live or just catch them later on league pass given the time zone difference?

Wow, not your average life you got going there. Arrested a handful of times as a youth? Were you pissed off or what? Impressive that you can rebuild cars, homes, etc.

When I lived in China it was perfect. Games were on between 8 and 10am so either I watched live for breakfast or sometimes at work in the morning when I didn't have much to do anyways.

Here in Ethiopia they tend to be too early. Unless I wake up at 5am I watch them later on league pass. I prefer watching live. But it is also nice to watch on league since it takes a quarter of my time. Plus I watch first thing in the morning when I get up so there isn't any spoiler chance.

Yeah, I've definitely had a unique life, haha.

Yeah, I was kind of an angry teenager and got in fights and vandalizing. I got banned for life from Spanish fork. No loss there though. Also not really enforceable. But never got arrested or in much trouble after turning 18.

Purely hypothetical question, but if a team having an affiliation with a nation's Olympic program sought your advice on supplementation using substances not favored by WADA, what substances would you think they are referring to and how would you arrange things so as to minimize potential awkwardness for your client?

Banned from Spanish Fork? Lmao. Do you have a document or something for that? I'd put it in a plaque.

How's the Poly stuff work for you? I've never been a fan.
Its different for everyone. Its mostly having a really open and honest conversation about your relationship and not controlling of the other person. But for most people it means having serious relationships with more than one person. For me it was really great to think more about myself and my relationship, I think it made me a better person. I still think its probably better for me in general but I am very happy in a slightly more monogamous relationship.

I used to do nutrition for athletes but I moved away from it a long time ago. If someone asked I would assume steroids or HGH. I would not arrange things and move away from that conversation. If you want to take the risk on those things, fine. I can see why you would. For me, I want nothing to do with it especially professionally.

It was in court in Spanish Fork and what the judge told me. I guess I could get court records, but doesnt really seem worth it. Mostly just a funny story now.

amazing life story Ron .. cheers mate

what % would you put at for elite athletes in the Olympics in sports purely based on physical ability ... strongest, fastest .. that are or have used PEDs at some point in their career ??

I'm my experience PEDs are very rare. I can't say the percentage. But I'm sure it's a minority who use PEDs.

What specific warm up/stretches would you recommend before and after once a week street basketball for someone in their 40s?

I'm reluctant to play ball anymore because almost every time I get injured.

You should never do static stretches before exercise or sports. You should never do static stretches within an hour if finishing exercise or sports.

I can go into a lot of detail about this but that's very old fashion thinking. Hard stretches weaken muscle and ligaments that can last up to a week. After playing sports or exercise you have micro tears in your muscles. If you do static stretching right after it will worsen those.

For a typical warmup you want to do 3 things. 1st get blood flowing with light aerobics. This is usually about 3-5 minutes. Then the 2nd and 3rd thing are activate the muscles you'll use and get range of motion through muscles you'll use. Range of motion being dynamic stretches like walking scoops for hamstrings. Elbow to instep lunges for glutes. Some basic arm swings for shoulders. Then activate muscles with some band work. Or just do some simple squats, usually about 10 is good. Some light jumps and/or sprints at about 60% effort. Then start some shoot around and build up to moving full speed.
