Gordon Hayward Retires

I don’t wish it but Karma is automatic.

It’s the Universe’s way of righting a wrong.
You have to let go of the negativity Onelove. It corrodes. I remember what happened and have let it go.

I think Hayward did the Jazz dirty because they didn’t pay him what he thought he was worth. Karma? Haha

Now, I remember but don’t care. Hayward can retire. I won’t boo, I won’t cheer. Don’t care at all.

Historically he screwed us over hurt feelings.
Emotionally, there is nothing now.
Karmically, Midnight… believe what you will.
I think you should let it go though and “let the universe handle it” though.

Do you know how i know that Karma is real?

See if he gets booed when he steps foot in the arena.

Getting booed is the right result & reaction to what he did.

And he would have 100% deserved it.

imo was an intentional payback from Hayward from the perceived sleight from not getting paid what and when he wanted.

What really bothers me about this is that context get lost so easily. Hayward was easily a max player in 2017, but we're talking about 2014 here. He did not have a very good season, though I supposed the team as a whole had a bad season. The Jazz won 25 games.

If you look at advanced stats, Hayward actually had a worse season than the year before. His TS% fell from .564 to .520. That's a pretty serious drop. His BPM went from 2.0 to 0.8. His win shares halved, as well. His FG added and TS added numbers were terrible compared to the year before. His on/off numbers dropped. His turnover rate shot up.

Now yes, some of this had to do with him being played at SG a lot more and having the ball in his hands a lot more and generally his role on the team changing and becoming more important, but it still doesn't change the fact that a decent 4th-year player on a bad team was asking to be paid the same as All-NBA players. We know now that 3 years later, he would very much justify that max, but everyone's a general after the battle. In 2014, things were up in the air. Maybe he becomes an All-Star or maybe you're maxing out Mike Dunleavy.

It's crazy that he was so salty about what at the time was a reasonable move by the Jazz and that worked the way he wanted, anyway. What was the issue? His agent having to do slightly more work? It's not like Hayward himself had to go and negotiate with the Hornets so the Jazz would match.

Deep down I wish we would have paid Hayward. I liked everything about him and his game before the way he left. He had a lot of talent and worked hard at his game.

I had dreams of him and Favors doing damage to the league, with others too of course.

He would have done the same. He was Brad Stevens dude.
He lied right to the face of Gail Miller, his mates, coaches and brass, and then delayed the thing just to increase damage.
I was not happy for his immediate big injury, but I cannnot say for certain that somewhere in my deep inner dark self I didn't smile a bit.

My brother-in-law is a Celtics fan and when he came to visit Fall of 2017 it was just days after Hayward’s injury. I printed out a photo of Hayward and his broken ankle and left the photo on my brother-in-law’s pillow. I also taped photos of a screaming Hayward onto the Don Q Rum bottle my wife purchased for her brother’s visit.
