2024 Jazzfanz Annual Current draft

I can't sleep so I'm looking at Giannis stats and they are truly eye popping. He can't be guarded by a single person and is the best player in the NBA when double teamed.

He has the most points in the NBA when guarded tight and very tight and has by far the best efg% of anyone. His efg% is 65% when guarded tightly and the next highest of the top ten in attempts is Jokic at 57.5%.

Because of this according to NBA university he is double teamed the highest percentage of his possessions, but when he's double teamed he has the best PPP of anyone.

Looking at different play types on NBA. com and Giannis ranks as one of the top players in Isolation, Transition, Pick and Roll Ball Handler, Pick and Roll Man, Post Ups, and Cuts.

If Jokic wasnt the basketball savant he is, I think Giannis would have been a concensus best player in the world for the past 4 years. Probably wins 1 or 2 more MVPs as well.

Sounds like Giannis needs to ask for a trade. I’ve almost always hated when players do that but he needs to realize his legacy is on the line and that Doc and Dame aren’t even close to the solution there.

If things don't go well this year then he should want out, but it's hard for me to see that happening. I think both moves (trading for Dame and hiring Doc) were things he signed off on.

After my little stats review last night, I don't think I would change my order of best player in the world, but I do think I would change my tiers.

Before I had it: Jokic in a tier by himself, and then Giannis and Luka in the next tier.

Now I have it: Jokic and Giannis in the same tier, then Luka.

Giannis is to Jokic as Wilt is to Russell. Better individual player, but worse team player.

I would ague that Jokic is a decidedly better player all around. The only area Giannis exceeds Jokic is in athleticism and as a result his overall game will fade faster. Jokic's game is not based in that so he will likely have the longer and more productive career.
