What's new

For those of you BYU pukes cheering Jimmer...

I forgive you, my son.

Seriously, it's all good. We're fans and like they say, "fan" is derived from the same word as "fanatic." I understand how you can be bothered by someone cheering for an opposing player. For me, it really sets me off when I hear people clapping for Kobe.

Yeah, but this is a situation you really can't avoid (Kobe Bryant I mean)... There are so many bandwagon Laker fans it is simply ridiculous... My NFL team the Vikings, have the same issue with the Packers... Their fans are like locusts (no pun intended) and they spread like a disease... LOL...

In Jimmer's case (or Bogut or Andre Miller), I can at least understand there's a local connection. With Kobe, Lebron, etc. there's not and it really chaps my hide.

LOL... I hear ya...

My wife was a very stout Mormon who was very knowledgeable about the church... Not to mention very strong in her faith at the time and a stubborn individual to boot...

If she can turn... And she did... Then that tells me all I need to know... Just saying...
Every church has very stout people who turn away for one reason or the other. Name me a faith and I can name you a person of note who "turned." Guess that tells me all I need to know about any organized religion. In fact, not everyone who personally knew Jesus when he was alive remained a Christian. But I won't base my belief in Christ on what one particular person says or does, no matter how much I may respect them personally or professionally.

Wait I don't get it people spend their own money to go to an arena and be entertained and they do it by cheering for some one you do not like and their religion sucks. So if I go to the staples center I have to cheer for the lakers because it is their arena? (what if they are playing the clips do I just root for the home team then?)

Oh well your view of religion doesn't translate to your view of basketball they contradict.

Hmmm.....

So I guess you're saying that Hayward should never be cheered when he plays in Indiana? Andre Miller and Andrew bogut always receive cheers when they play against the Jazz. Of course, we haven't seen Bogut cheered for years now due to injuries...

I have never heard an opposing player get cheered like Jimmer did. It was disgusting to hear, and those BYU fans can go f...hmm, well I already have a warning which is bad being a mod, so I'll stop it there.

Amen brother... This is kind of me and my wifes philosophy regarding ALL faiths (even our own)... Divide and conquer... We're all so spread out and God never wanted it that way... And me starting this thread is a perfect example of what NOT to do when you are supposed to be a follower in Christ...

Kind of like the Christian community chastising the gays... The bible tells me to follow in Jesus' footsteps... Instead of pushing these people away, we should be embracing them... Jesus welcomed the worst of sinners from Paul (a murderer, thief, etc) to Mary (a thief and prostitute)... These were the kinds of people he reached out to the most...

I need to remember that before I start a thread like this... Totally inappropriate and non Christian like...

BYU fans can go f because they cheer for a BYU NPOTY sensation now in the NBA?

I mean, I don't even like BYU, I just can't jump on board with people hating fans for cheering a kid in the NBA who went to their school.

My take after not spending the time to read all hundred or so posts: Cheer Jimmer at the start of the game, then cheer for the Jazz to win. I didn't like it when he was booed every time he got the ball, I didn't like him being cheered whenever he made one.

That being said, I bet there were a lot of -non- jazz fans in the arena. Likely a lot of the same folks who wear Laker stuff when Kobe comes to town. California NBA fans who are going or went to BYU, so I do understand where it came from.

A player for the Kings. Who were playing against the Jazz. At the house formerly known as the Delta Center. They can go to Sacramento and cheer him all the want for all I care.

Wellllllllll, they can cheer it sounds like, but the levels need to be adjusted. I'm hearing there is a sliding scale of acceptable cheer levels and the people who liked that guy exceeded it. Get banged on!

I have a feeling that if the Jazz had played Portland tonight and had cheered Andre Miller, we wouldn't be hearing a thing. Of course, like in most cases, those who are most vocal get the attention. In this case, most of this board is made up of Utah fans. So while they've ignored decades of cheering their own, they pick out Jimmer and blast those who cheered him.

sigh...

Yeah, yeah, they went to the school. Can't they put it aside for one night of the year? Because, you know, they're Jazz fans?

I mean, we all love Enes and all that, but would you lot cheer him on if the USandA were playing Turkey at the 2012 Olympics and he was just styling on your boys?

If Miller ever got even half the cheers Ferdette got I would be saying the same thing. He probably got the most cheers out of anyone on the floor, and he plays for the other team. That's awful.

I would understand Jimmer chearing if Jazz sucked and had a doomed future (Like my other Basketball team the Suns). But the Jazz are looking real bright in the future.
