Following Potential 2025 Draftees

We need to see how well he shoots and how he adjusts to more athletic competition. I don't have a comp for him right now. If he shoots, then maybe he's like a bigger version of Bogdan Bogdanovic? If he's athletic enough, but doesn't quite shoot, can he be like Jalen Johnson? If he can do both--like a Jalen Johnson who can shoot--then he's likely an All Star-level talent. That's too optimistic at this stage, but he shows some nice flashes: he's long, fluid, has feel off the dribble, plays fast, runs the floor, passes at full speed, finishes on the rim, etc. He does things off the dribble that Risacher and Buzelis never quite showed, and he's more athletic than Josh Giddey.
Sounds like the way you talked about Cody.

No, I would have described Cody as a long wing who can beat guards and score in different ways off the dribble. Cody can run some plays, but he's not a full-time initiator. In a perfect world, Cody becomes someone who can score in isolation. I compared Cody to guys like post-injury Josh Howard and Latrell Sprewell, with a small chance of developing as a scorer like SGA.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Egor Demin at first glance. He's got a handle, a bit of a first step, some shift, end-to-end speed, good elevation at the rim, and some feel and shooting touch. I like him more than I liked Buzelis, and I think he might be better than Franz Wagner too. I'm interested to see if he can become a bit more bouncy and explosive.

These are a few flashes...

I'll tell you right now I love what I have seen from Demin so my reply is Be afraid be very very afraid. Everyone i love seems to suck.

Watched the Duke vs ASU and was impressed by Jayden Quiantance but he is a 2026 prospect because he is only 17 and won't be 18 until July 2025.

Malauch has and NBA centers game. He loves to block shots. Saw him jump over flagg to block a shot. Decent roll game. If he can learn to stretch at an acceptable rate he will be scary.

Flagg is going to be hard to judge. He really struggles to create for himself. He has some ability to do that but need to develop more. What I like most about him is he plays with fire. That is such a rare thing. He wants to dominate and I think that alone is what will make him great.

Kon Knipple (that's what it sounds like. Just to lazy to actually look it up) has a sweet shot. He is super scrappy player that tries on every possession. His shot is just wet. No other way to explain it. I am curious to see if we have a Sheppard 2.0.

Proctor will probably have a career in the nba as a 2nd or 3rd guard on a roster.

Foster honestly was a black hole. When he got the ball he was not looking to pass.

The more I watch the more I want Dylan Harper

Imagine a lineup of:
PG - Harper 6’7
SG - Williams 6’8
SF - Hendricks 6’9
PF - Lauri 7’0
C - Kessler 7’1

Unless Cody becomes a much better attacker, thats an awful line up

Think they just mean a guy who wasn't originally thought of as a one and some guy but becomes one. The Kon hype got started much earlier though

Isn’t he a five star blue chip and projected first rounder (maybe higher)?

Don’t think Reed was on any draft board in the preseason.

There's some really intriguing talent in the mid-teens of this draft if the Jazz can get a 2nd pick in that range -- Essengue, Powell, CMB, Kneuppel, Riley, etc. It's a deep enough draft that quality talent should be there into the 20s.

Flagg and Bailey would be better than anyone on the Jazz's current roster. Harper and Edgecombe probably should be too.

Any buzz about byu freshman Egor Demin? BYU played an exhibition game the other night against some D2 school that they won by like 60 or something. Demin only played in the first half I believe and had 12 assists in the first half. 6 foot 9 with a really good feel for the game. Great ball handler and passer. Athletic.

Would be cool to draft him this year and then draft AJ Dybantsa in 2026 and have 2 BYU players on the jazz along with Ainge and Ryan Smith.

FWIW, Rocco Zikarsky would likely be an upgrade over Walker Kessler because Rocco can score in different ways outside of 5 feet, and he can take a dribble or two. His skill level seems to be comparable to his countryman Andrew Bogut entering the league, though he doesn't have Bogut's wide body.

Rocco is like 5 years away from maybe being a better player than Kessler.

Offensively, he may already be better than Kessler. All Kessler does is roll and go up soft. There's no touch, no baby hook, no dribble moves, etc. Gobert was limited offensively, but at least he could go up strong and dunk.

You are basing this off of his 4.5pts/game in the NBL?

I'm not a Rocco hater, I really don't have an opinion, but this post should be flagged for Kessler hate.

Not a worthy upgrade. I wouldnt really consider him even with the Minny pick if it's late teens.
