What's new

israel flotilla situation?

Israel has never been afraid of the UN before. Why start now?

The UN is an ineffectual joke made up of people lining their own pockets.

Too early to tell right now. Could be a lot more to the story than it seems. Have you ever seen one of the Jake Ryan movies? Conspiracies everywhere. I am never attending a football game ever again. What I am trying to say is there may be unknown reasons for Israel to do what it did that they wouldn't even feel comfortable telling the United States.

Maybe the flotilla was smuggling in non-kosher goods labeled as kosher so the Palestinians could somehow sell them to the Israelis and get a good laugh out of it. The horror.

You can't do much worse than launching rockets into civilian neighborhoods. There is a blockade in effect for Gaza. That's the reality. If you want to run the blockade, no matter what you're carrying, then you're putting your life on the line. If Gaza hadn't been used as a point of entry for weapons used against Israli women and children then none of this would have happened. As usual primary responsibility is on the Palestinians.

Wait for the facts, as of right now it looks like the Israeli soldiers didn't initiate the "situation."

Intriguing.

Were you sober when you wrote this? I just remember a lot of admitted drunken rants and it was hard to tell when you're drunk or sober on a good day.

It's very interesting to watch how UN countries react to Israeli aggression versus North Korean aggression.

It's like Dick Bavetta keeping a game close or extending a series, except we're talking about the balance of world power.

You've got to me a world class moron or just plain suicidal to go and provoke confrontation with the Israeli security forces. And for what? For islamic jihadists shooting rockets at civilian targets within Israel. That said, whoever is handling the Israeli PR needs to be fired pronto.

What a blast from the past, though I preferred Michael much more in Vision Quest as the guy opposite Matthew Modine--Kuch.

While we're on Vision Quest, how the **** does that only get a 6.0 out of 10 on imdb? There are a handful of sports' movies that move me virtually every time: Rocky, Field of Dreams, Friday Night Lights, Vision Quest. It's a nearly perfect coming of age/sports film.

Seriously, this is like complaining because you ran a police DUI checkpoint and the cops used force to stop you. Tough ****! You knew what you were doing (or maybe not if you ran it because you were drunk). Besides, there is no way for the Israeli forces to know what was on the boat when it is running the blockade.

Honestly sounds like an intentionally provoked incident to me. Not sure they intended to get anyone killed, but then again, Palestinians routinely strap explosives to young men (boys, really) and send them onto buses and into shopping centers full of women and children, so it's hard to say.

I bet that the same aid could have been shipped to Gaza with Israeli consent if they'd only tried to get Israeli consent.

I'm sticking with the guys with rocks on this one. Israel is flat out wrong here. They're actions may be "justified", but the way they have handled this situation is ****ed up. Fending off people who have limited weaponry with tanks and missles is slaughter. I think that's where the "anti-Israel" or "pro-Palestinian" position stands. It's not because they're Jewish, it's because they're acting imperialistic and overtly violent.
