Great second half coaching job by Hardy to get the L. Key and Collier also deserve praise too for keeping the tank rolling. 35% shooting usually doesn't win too many games.

Do people really think teams are seeing games like this from Sexton and thinking, "You know... we could REALLY use this guy"?

What a pipe dream. The guy has zero trade market, which is the story of his career.

The same "games like this" argument could be made for Lauri as well in this game. In fact all the starters were pretty trash except Kessler.

Its dumb to suggest teams judge you by your worst (or best) game.

They don't. That's just it – Sexton is a known quantity in this league. His body of work so far is tainted by all the flaws we saw in this game: forcing his way inside and getting blocked, ignoring open teammates, letting his emotions get the best of him, opposing guards shooting over him like he's not there.

Whenever Collin has three 20pt games in a row, people get excited and start deluding themselves with wild trade scenarios and claims that "he's really improved as a player".

Games like this should bring them back to earth. Sexton is still the same player he's always been and he has very little value around the league, except maybe as a somewhat entertaining tank commander. That's the role he's known for.

This whole rebuild is built on wishful thinking, mirages, squinting and plain old mistakes.

I dont disagree that Sexton value is low, but you dont need to paint him as a some god awful player all the time. He is a consistent and good offensive player who can score a lot of points effectively. Not everyone is a playmaking genius, and thats fine. Lauri isnt one either. Sexton does pass to the rim pretty well but he just plays as if he has no peripheral vision. However being offensively consistent and good is actually major part of the problem with him.. which comes down to his cap hit.

You see his offensive skillset (production and efficiency) is the thing that agents milk in contract negotiations, and the things where Sexton is bad like "mental errors per game", "not seeing open guys" and "people shooting like you arent there" are not as easily quantifiable.

Bottom line is Sexton as a MLE guy is a great player to have. Sixth man off the bench who can create advantages and put up points single handedly if needed for the bench unit. Sexton at 20+ PPG starter money on the other hand is a sketchy investment.
