One thing about Flagg is that because he never gets all the way to the rim, he is just extremely inefficient.

Very Scottie Barnes right now where his raw size and ability to dribble and pass allows him to get off a ton of shots, but they aren't really good shots and he lacks the moves or jumpshot to get those good shots currently.

How much he develops his offensive skill set will determine how much better than Scottie Barnes he is.

Extremely inefficient?

Hell no lmao. He has 3 more points per game than he has shot attempts. Nothing special, but far from inefficient.

He's been a moderately efficient scorer which is boosted by his ability to playmake for others.

If you think that the floor for Flagg is being another Scottie Barnes (an All Star in his 3rd season) that means that Flagg is a damn good prospect.

He's at 51% TS%. RJ Barrett was 53% for comparison.

Obviously his efficiency will improve a good bit if he starts making jumpers or free throws.

He and Ace are two guys where they really just have no ball handling ability currently and needs to get to a high level to be a star.

Calling his handle ‘catastrophic’ is an exaggeration. He has enough burst to simply blow past defenders, even if he doesn’t develop much wiggle. Think Westbrook.
 
Ian Jackson is being slept on. He's being slept on for good reason as his coach just hasn't been playing him, but he's a legit scorer and athlete who will make some noise once Hubert pulls his head out. Reminds me of Tyrese Maxey in terms of a guy with elite quickness who can really get his shot, shoot from distance, and get to the rim. He's also bigger than I thought he was after seeing him in HS. I thought he was about 6'2", but i think he might be a legit 6'4" with length.

A lot of these big men in the 8-15 range are in the "could definitely be a solid starter, but I don't know if they have the upside to justify a fit this bad"

The Jazz current roster has

PF: Lauri Markkanen, Taylor Hendricks, Kyle Filipowski
C: Walker Kessler, John Collins

Outside of Collin Sexton, those may be the five best players on the roster when healthy, lol

Hendricks and Markkanen have been able to play SF in the past, but I don't know about in the future as Markkanen ages and Hendricks recovers from injury.

But definitely wouldn't hate a Queen/Newell/etc pick at like 16. That would be absolutely fine. With our first pick would be very questionable even if the team falls to 5 or 6.

I prefer Sanon, but Jackson is very talented.

No he wouldnt. He cant guard on the perimter like Hendricks. Newell is much more analogous to Collins.

If you want a Hendricks replacement you should be looking at Cofie from Virginia, Flemming from Saint Joes, Coward from Washington. Maybe a Yaxel from UAB.

You really need to stop with your player comparisons because they are awful.

That's not a direct player comparison. That's saying that Newell would give the Jazz a defensive presence comparable to Hendricks. And besides, Hendricks is decent on the perimeter, but not lockdown by any means.

He looked good last night. He's still probably later 1st round this year.

Is the 2024 NCAAB freshman class abnormally productive this year? I dont always follow this closely, but it feels like it is.

I'm sure once conference play starts the production might taper off.

He seems like an elite shooter, which is what gives him the edge over Jackson for me. Not sure how their defense and intangibles stack against each other. A bit concerning Jackson has 4 straight games without an assist.

It's much easier to play ”hard” all the time in college. In the NBA, with the amount of games, it's impossible to sustain that if you're a big minutes guy. You pace yourself.

Flagg does have a motor and that's good. But in the League, he won't go full tilt, won't handle the ball as much and can't roam around defensively like he does at Duke.
