2024-2025 Tank Race

The degree to which DJ Murray sucks is baffling. This man led a skelton crew Hawks to many victories last year, but this year can barely dribble a basketball. Just saw him cannibilize and ruin 3 possessions in a row due to inability to dribble.

The Hornets are pure trash. Have scored a total of 20 minutes since half time, with 4 min remaining in the 4Q

More evidence again today that OKC's where they are not because they tanked (in the sense of losing a lot of games) but because they did (most) everything else right.

They are where they are because they pulled off the greatest trade of all time and got SGA and Jalen Williams and more picks for Paul George.

I don't know how replicable "pull off the greatest trade of all time and get a top 3 player in the NBA and a ton of other assets" is.

Honestly shocked NOLA is playing all their regular starters vs the Wizards for a 2nd straight game.

They traded away a HOFer to get him ...
Of course they did. But:

- This isn't trades (it's one trade)
- Having a worse record because of this trade didn't lead them to get SGA (which seemed to be your point); instead getting SGA was the result of the trade (just like when we got Kessler for our HOFer)
- This has nothing to do with draft position, which is what I'm trying to emphasize (and I think most of the pro-tankers also care most about).

If you want to argue that any move that makes you worse over the next few years with the desire to build back up is tanking, that's fine. Jazz must be great at tanking already then. But I think your definition is out of touch with everybody else's here and this thread itself, since the thread seems to assume that the essence of tanking is losing as much as possible to get high draft picks and that rebuilding without such losing and high lotto position is nigh unto impossible.

The Jazz are going to need to hope to get lucky. That was always the case, but I think 5th best odds is very likely and we really need to get a top 2 (maybe top 3) pick for this season to feel worth it.

I will probably watch 0 games next season if we still have either JC and get a 7-10th pick again. Generational talent in the draft? No thanks! We want to watch our vets play 34 minutes a game so we can miss the playoffs every year AND never get a good pick! Woohoo!

The Jazz play the Heat two times during Butler’s 7-game suspension which is really super awesome.

We're getting to the cool zone where Ainge refuses to add pieces to make the team good because he thinks he's getting ripped off but Ainge refuses to trade Collin Sexton to tank because he thinks he's getting ripped off.

You do not need to "win" every trade, man.

There some true in it and it's like that for 3 years now. This team is too good for tank as hard as some others, let's admit it and add pieces to improve it step by step. We will never get a Wemby or a Chet unless we get very lucky. And if it takes 3 or 4 years, prime Lauri will pass already...
Or trade Lauri- Colin and be bottom 1-3 for the next 3 years, then we may have a chance.

Half decision have never been a recipe for success on my opinion.
