Trump Dictatorship and All Things Politics

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden on Monday pardoned Dr. Anthony Fauci, retired Gen. Mark Milley and members of the House committee that investigated the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, in an extraordinary use of the powers of the presidency in his final hours to guard against potential “revenge” by the incoming Trump administration.

The decision by Biden comes after Donald Trump warned of an enemies list filled with those who have crossed him politically or sought to hold him accountable for his attempt to overturn his 2020 election loss and his role in the storming of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Trump has selected Cabinet nominees who backed his election lies and who have pledged to punish those involved in efforts to investigate him.

“The issuance of these pardons should not be mistaken as an acknowledgment that any individual engaged in any wrongdoing, nor should acceptance be misconstrued as an admission of guilt for any offense,” Biden said in a statement. “Our nation owes these public servants a debt of gratitude for their tireless commitment to our country.”

The pardons, announced with just hours left in Biden’s presidency, have been the subject of heated debate for months at the highest levels of the White House. It’s customary for a president to grant clemency at the end of his term, but those acts of mercy are usually offered to Americans who have been convicted of crimes. Biden, a Democrat, has used the power in the broadest and most untested way possible: to pardon those who have not even been investigated. The decision lays the groundwork for an even more expansive use of pardons by Trump, a Republican, and future presidents.

Seems like they took Trump’s threats literally not figuratively. Interesting. I bet the media will focus on why Biden issued these pardons and why they were accepted instead of fixating on whether this will hurt democrats or not…

One thing I will give trump credit for, he consistently provides embarrassing lolz

First day. Didn't waste any time

What are you talking about?

There’s a difference between Trump pardoning convicted criminals who have been found guilty of crimes, i. e. Bannon, Flynn, Manaford, the Jan 6 Insurrectionists and Biden preemptively pardoning family members, Milley, and Jan 6 committee members because Trump and his loyalists have pledged to weaponize the DOJ and punish Trump’s perceived political enemies.

I know the trolls on here won’t recognize the difference. But there is one. The fact that Trump has for years called for Gen Milley’s execution or for the imprisonment of Trump’s political enemies (Clinton, Obama, Cheney, etc) just goes to show how desensitized many of you have become. Too much prosperity, teevee, and social media.

lol. He’s preemptively. Pardoning his family which tells me they are all guilty and he did it moments before the inauguration so Trump wouldn’t find out in time to air all of Biden’s dirty laundry in his speech.

Trumps own VP said no one that committed violent acts would be set free. Also there are people that entered the building being held unconstitutionally for a peaceful protest. Last I checked you can’t be arrested for such an act. They should be pardoned. Then given a lawyer so they can sue for wrongful incarceration for the last four years of imprisonment for a peaceful protest.

If you really think anything about the Jan 6th insurrection was a peaceful protest, especially the people that actually entered the Capitol, you are the worst kind of brainwashed Trump/MAGA Cult acolyte. No kind of insurrection against our government should or can be tolerated in a peaceful and functioning democratic society. It doesn't matter if they were the first ones through the door or came in after they decided it was safe to do so, they entered the building illegally and participated in an attempt to overthrow a free and fair election. It deserves the punishment it earned.

Actual lol

Just imagine how brain rotted you must be to actually believe in such rubbish.

Or maybe he’s pardoning them to protect them from a guy who tried prosecuting his enemies before but was stopped by his lawyers (too many to count), former AG (Barr), and FBI director (Comey). Grown ups that won’t be around this time as he’s installing toadies like Patel and Bondi.

“But thrill, you need to take these people seriously. They’re arguing in good faith and aren’t trolls, morons, or otherwise crappy people suffering from mass psychosis.”

I’m sorry guys, I’m college educated. I used to teach history and have studied and written about for years authoritarian regimes. I’m not bored with life, waste my life fetishizing a nostalgic past that never existed, nor do I suffer from anti social conditions. It would be against my own conscience, experience, and knowledge to believe in many of these conspiracies and “whatabout” arguments many of you are proposing.

There’s a pretty obvious reason why America’s enemies prefer Trump.
There’s a pretty obvious reason why our allies can’t stand him.

Enjoy the next four years! You folks won! Stop bitching and be happy for a change. Just remember though, you own it this time. No more mulligans.
