This is probably showing my age… and exposing the age of those who think “shock and awe” is cool to say. But does anyone in my age group (40+ years) remember what shock and awe meant to the last Republican administration who used that saying? How did it end up for them?

I get why children who think Trump is cool because he’s the only politician they’ve ever known might think “shock and awe” is connected to a highly successful administration. But for those of us in an older age group, we should remember that “shock and awe” is synonymous with failure. And most of us probably use that saying as a joke, satire, sarcasm. Like… the Jazz are so terrible that their tank job’s motto is “shock and awe.”

I just can’t wait for Trump’s “Mission Accomplished” banner on an aircraft carrier for after he and Republicans do something stupid, like repealing the ACA or privatizing social security for bitcoin. Right? Again, doubt the young kids will get this reference.

Anyway, now I’m hungry for some freedom fries… there I go again, my age group should remember this reference.

So many posts about how much winning Trump is doing so far.

I’m a lower middle class straight white dude in Utah. What has he done that I should be happy or excited about? I genuinely want to know.

Nothing. It’s been 1 week.

If you want to get a head financially, with the deportations happening and accelerating, there will a huge opportunity to buy/start businesses in the home service industries. There will be many customers and accounts needing to be serviced soon.

Again Trump isn't doing it to make you happy or excited; but the byproduct of these policies and actions can give you opportunities to make yourself happy and excited. Just got to look for them and then make a move.

Milley called Trump a fascist and detailed Trump’s conduct around the Capitol insurrection.

Milley has said he was grateful for the pardon by Biden, who said Milley and others “do not deserve to be the targets of unjustified and politically motivated prosecutions”.

Trump had once suggested Milley should be executed for holding back-channel talks with China. Milley’s photo was removed from the Pentagon shortly after Trump was sworn into office.

Trump keeps his promise to get revenge on his enemies. I'm glad our president is so focused on taking care of the ordinary people and not pursuing an agenda of avenging his own perceived personal slights.

After review, the insurance company told Illinois regulators that they messed up. The insurance company admitted that their representative said, “Utah Valley Hospital was in-network. Due to this inaccurate information being provided,” the claim was “being reprocessed.” And, good news for Neal, the hospital spokesperson said the remaining amount was being written off and his “balance owed is zero.”

This entire story is about a paperwork error. A guy got a bill for $80k, he then informed those who had made the error, and they fixed the error to show the correct amount of $0 owed. That is the story.

Nearly all deported so far are criminals who have been through the court system and sentenced for crimes, starting with the worst crimes first. These first planeloads are filled with rapists, or "entrepreneurial home service industry opportunists" as you seem to want to put it.

I think it's super cute that you think Trump is going to rid the U.S. of illegal immigrants and there will be almost no undocumented workers anymore.

Illegal immigration is not going to change that much. I mean Trump might be able to point to a chart and show that crossings are down and X amount of people were deported and claim victory. Meanwhile the demand for workers will not change and the way it is met will not significantly change.

It’s not winning. It’s a byproduct of the policies.

I’ve stated this many times before, I’m not a mass deportation supporter. I support a pause on immigration. But I don’t make the policies, so I’ll look at opportunities that are created because of them.

It doesn’t take much to create opportunities.

There is a difference between a demand of workers and opportunities for risk takers. There is an abundance of workers I can choose from, but there are not many people who would take the risk to start what I and others started.

You know not everyone crossed illegally over the border. There are many that got work, student and tourist visas that over stayed. These people also started businesses and can lose them from being deported or self deported.

But sit there and not look for opportunities for yourself, doesn’t bother me. But don’t think with Trumps mass deportation effort there won’t be many changes for hustlers to get ahead.
