2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

Isn’t Brandon Ingram a free agent next year looking for a new $50 million per year contract? You trade for him now, it’s to let him expire and clear your books or it’s to get his bird rights.

I thought the reason the Jazz wouldn’t trade for him before was because the deadline to extend him had passed and he resisted being traded to Utah. They didn’t want to trade for him - just to have him leave this offseason.
He's not getting that contract from anyone, so it may be worthwhile just to have his bird rights for a potential S&T?

They were under the tax so could have done Tech for Sexton already but they grabbed a couple seconds.., maybe like a buttload of seconds for sexton? Orlando or Detroit still make so much sense.
Orlando makes no sense because they don't do trades and love all their players on a team that ranks 29th offensively. I mean, it makes sense but they themselves do not make sense.

Detroit/Utah have a history of trades so I could see them working a deal under the radar of leaked rumors

And they do have a boatload of good seconds that could be packaged to a contender with tax concerns that have a first. Tech I think could be rerouted but dude forgot how to shoot.

Orlando is big dumb if they don't do something.

Orlando isn’t going to make a move. They should, but their history says that they’re more comfortable being sellers instead of buyers on the market.

I feel like the Jazz still have another move to make, but I can’t think of what it could possibly be.

Man, I think I would have taken this for Collins? Crazy to me if Milwaukee wanted Kuzma over Collins
I think the salary implications were really important. Kuzma also is more perimeter-oriented which *theoretically* compliments Giannis more. Collins is for sure a better player, and it is worth noting that Kuzma was complete booty next to Lebron. I think he is basically a fraud in terms of real contributions.

Collins would have gotten them under the second apron too.

Its a junk swap. I believe NO has a swap on it already. May verify... or i may not.
Portland has a swap on it already. So Washington can swap their pick if it is worse than Milwaukee's and Portland's. Not worthless but also not worth much.

This trade gets MIA out of the apron. What is it worth to the Heat to upgrade from Rozier to Sexton (while Rozier is under investigation) and get under the first apron? WE could potentially take on more salary to get them under the tax with exceptions...just need the roster spots.

We can waive Tucker+JHS to make the roster spots. Take on KLove in addition to this and the Heat are out of the tax.

Spitballing here: would taking Butler on and sending Sexton and/or Collins such that the Heat
-get quality players that expire in 26
-get under aprons and maybe the tax altogether
-move on from their Jimmy nightmare at the soonest possible moment

be a deal that we could do immediately and without sending (other) assets? This would
-give us a day to shop Jimmy, if we can’t find the buyer (him not being able to be aggregated is not a problem with his salary) would
-give us Jimmy’s Bird Rights (SnT possibilities) in the off-season, however
-he could just opt-out and bounce, freeing up capspace
-better ensure organic losing/open up development time

Collins for DeRozan works straight up. What 3rd team would want DeRozan?
I think they want Demar more than Collins. Vivek is enamored. If he isn't asking out he will stay.

The Wizards offered a Kuzma based package for KD
The Wiz doing the Bucks a solid... the Bucks GM can say "we got the guy that almost got KD". lol

That almost feels like the Wiz GM doing something to make the owner happy cuz he was bitching about "maybe we could get KD???"

Is he? Makes so much sense for them imo. Just don't know who wants DDR. Not that he is bad, still a solid player and has a decent contract, but he's always a weird fit anywhere. Maybe the Hawks would want him? Feel like the Hawks should be desperately trying to to add a productive player at a low cost (could give the Jazz Capela) so they don't embarrass themselves giving a high pick to the Spurs
