2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

It was reported the Pelicans didnt want to deal him. It only makes sense if they are willing to sell low.
yup. zion is averaging 25, 8 and 5 on 58% FGs since november 1. yeah, he's never available, but when you're seeing that kind of domination up close, you tend to salivate and your patience for his injury issues grows.

This feels like trying to claim the future is unknowable to justify decision paralysis. The Jazz didn't trade Lauri at the 2024 deadline because, well, maybe Luka would demand a trade to the Jazz or Paul George would sign here... And now Lauri's value is a tiny fraction of what it was 12 months ago. The most likely outcome for this team is five more years of tanking. There's some shot they turn it around next year, but the probability is super low.
If you want to be a doomer go ahead. But you really dont understand team building.

In the 2023 offseason, the Jazz parlayed ~$42m in cap space into three year deals for Clarkson and Collins with the idea of trading them later and then never managed to trade them later... Tough.
They are all still on contract next year. Again, what future knowledge do you have of what is happening next year?

Trade them or what? Young, high efficiency players on good contracts? That is what they currently are. Or did you just want to give them away so all of us can spend another year not caring about jazz basketball?

I did not want to trade Sexton as he is the heart of the team right now. I did hope to get something for Clarkson. It depended a lot on what the offer would be for Collins as I was neutral.

This isn't really being a doomer, this is me saying that Ainge's "we need to keep all these guys in case we get incredibly lucky!" strategy just kind of sucks.
Did Tremendous Upside change his name or did he just recruit more of his particular breed of overly-confident idiot whose comments reveal a fundamental lack of basketball strategy to the forum? You know, so he isn’t lonely.

I have a suspicion that this is the play, especially since Collins can now coexist with a legit center.

? Markkanen can't play SF at all anymore and Trae's trade value is massively higher than Markkanen's right now (Markkanen is also a bad fit with the Hawks, who already have JJ and Risacher)

I actually don't know what basketball strategy you're talking about, lol.

Ainge has basically done the "hold onto guys forever until he feels like he's not getting ripped off" for his entire tenure and it lead to him destroying Markkanen's trade value in the desperate hope that Paul George would decide to sign here and it lead to the team being unable to tank in the 2023 draft (because Ainge thought he could get the Lakers to give up two unprotected picks for Mike Conley)

They aren't trading Lauri. They will likely trade young talent and picks. Why would the Hawk want Lauri?

I'm actually really confused about how you conceptualize this team. Do you want Markkanen at SF and Collins at PF with Trae at PG?

That's like...... The worst defensive team in NBA history by a huge margin.
