2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

Except the Jazz would have to value him more to significantly more than basically every other team to want to re-sign him (as he would likely need to be overpaid to stay in Utah after so many years of shameless tanking) and the Jazz should pretty clearly value him significantly less than most of the league. There are few situations where Sexton fits worse than with the Jazz personnel currently.
So if they signed him and you disagree with my reasoning then what would be the reasoning for them signing him in your opinion? You think they would sign him because they dont want him on the team and dont think he is a good player?

Theres reports that the lakers offered the Jazz the same package for walker as they did for mark Williams and the Jazz said no.

Would you have done that?
No

I think it's extremely unlikely the Jazz re-sign him, but if they did, it would be out of panic of losing him for nothing and that being an embarrassment.

But the Jazz need to pay a lot of guys fairly soon if any of their young players turn out so I don't see any long-term commitment coming.

Also, let's be very clear, the Jazz are ****ing tiny, one of the smallest teams in the NBA. If you believe in Keyonte or Collier at all, Sexton is a bizarre piece to have as Keyonte is really undersized at SG and Collier is an undersized PG and Sexton is a wildly undersized SG.

He's undersized, he's not that undersized.

The only player who is truly undersized on the team is Sexton. Everyone else is either average or bigger than average, in the case of many, wildly bigger than average.

If you like the player his height is his height in shoes, rounded up, and he is massive. If you don't like him, his height is his height without shoes, rounded down, and of course he is tiny.

Gotta make apples to apples comparisons, and this is what drives me nuts about measurements and the league changing official measurements to without shoes. Suddenly, everyone in the last ~7 years got two inches shorter than their counterparts in earlier eras.

Collier’s height and weight measurement compares favorably to most point guards. He doesn’t look tall because he’s thicc (210 pounds). He is taller and heavier than Deron Williams and Deron was supposed to be huge. Point guards on average might be slightly taller than they used to be but not so much that Deron Williams or Jrue Holiday are suddenly undersized.

Collier will be able to guard up a little bit since he’s built like a damn bulldozer. Same applies to finishing and playing near the basket… he likely will get cleaner looks due to size and bullying his way into space. As an off guard or wing he’d be lacking some length but I think he’d hold his own in many switches.

Key may be taller and may have a bigger wingspan but I am more concerned with his size than Colliers.

If I thought Keyonte was the for certain starting 2-guard of the future, I may be a bit more concerned, but it's more likely he's a 6th man. The Jazz are pretty well set-up to mitigate height concerns with how long most of the roster is. They will probably draft another huge player in the first round this year unless they get Kasparas. Every other top 5 player in the draft is plus sized for their position.

Ever since the did that one year of measuring the guys in shoes and then backing off of that I've seen countless times where people use one or the other and compare apples to oranges to try to push a point. It's a bit reductive to stress so much about this stuff in the first place, especially once they're in the NBA. We see them play basketball....does it matter more that a guy is under/oversized or is more important that he plays good defense?

It becomes complete non-sense when 1) we fudge the numbers to fit the narrative 2) we try to make it seem like the fudged numbers are more important than the actual play on the court.

Just curious.
How does Collier compare to Marcus smart in size?

Is he, though? He's 6'4". He's on the light side weight-wise, but that can change.

So Keyonte claims to be 6'4" in shoes with a 6'7" wingspan, but he was the last notable player to refuse to be measured at the NBA Draft Combine before the new CBA forced players to do that. I assume he's 6'3" with a 6'5" wingspan because he refused to be measured.

Rotfl. We start a 7ft player at sf. And elite paint protector and rebounder at the 5. Collier isn’t small. Key is only slightly small but closer to average than small. Since when is 6-3 and built like a tank small for a pg? We are on the big side.
