After jc made that 3 lead was down to 2 with 6+mins left. Then lost the game by 20pts. Excellent job hardy

Key's offense is not morphing into anything nor was it much worse in this game than it is on average. He did have few ugly dribble turnovers when driving inside which lead to fast breaks... but thats maybe -6 or something like that for his box.

Main reason for Key's -39 was due to the fact that the Clippers kept switching him to Zubac or DJJ and throwing lobs inside. They got a lot of free buckets all game because they forced Key to defend inside, which he cannot do due to his size combined with his poor defensive instincts and lack of defensive hustle. It was clearly something they had scouted and Key was targeted. It does not redeem Key at all, but if we were trying to win Hardy should have also changed things up and bench Key in favor of Juzang or someone who has a chance to get a hand on those passes. I guess he wanted to collect some tape or something.

Also the book is definitely out on Key's transition defense, and there is absolutely no one in the NBA who declines a fast break 1on1 against him. He usually just does the matador defense in those situations anyways.

Watch the dallas game with luka. Luka kept backing him down and key was using his hand, tapping. he is afraid of body contact. I believe giving collier the starting job was the right move.

Jesus Christ. The Anti-Keyonte people here so ****ing horny to jump on him over anything. The Jazz were a -17.5 point underdog and they got off to a hot start off JC's incredible early game shooting, of course there is going to be a massive rubber-band effect when the bench comes in.

I went back through the Play by Play to see if this was accurate. Keyonte was -10 in the 1st qtr, -11 in the 2nd qtr, and -13 in the 3rd qtr. So that's -34 heading into the 4th qtr. Incidentally, the Jazz entered the 4th qtr. down by only 8 pts. It's weird because no one else is within 20 pts of his +/-.

He took some bad shots and he had 4 TOs, but I think it's mostly his defense.

It's not the greatest stat in the world but when he was on the floor the Clips were making baskets while the Jazz were not. It is a symptom of ill health like high blood pressure.

Luka is one of the strongest players in the NBA. Keyonte isnt scared of contact getting backed down by Luka. He just physically incapable of doing anything with a guy like Luka backing him down, because like 95% of NBA guards are incapable of doing so. That's part of what makes Luka a potential top 20 player of all time.

Keyonte's defense is obviously bad, but at the same time, no guard is going to have a shot in hell at defending a team with the Clippers scoring talent and Zubac's interior presence when the bigs you are playing are Kyle Filipowski, Oscar Tshwiebewe, and Micah Potter. And it's the 2nd game of a B2B vs a rested team.

This game put our players in position to fail. It's the game the people who cry about the Jazz not tanking somehow erase from their memories for whatever reason.

The Jazz either play their best players and it's "OMG the Jazz have no idea how to tank" or the Jazz sit those guys and it's "OMG the Jazz young players are so bad why are we losing these games so ugly".

Not really ludicrous. Clippers switched bigs on Key and drew him inside all game. And his transition defense is as close to zero resistance as you ever see in the league.

I like him but that doesnt stop me from seeing the warts.

It's time to trade Keynote before next season and put all the focus on Collier development. We need someone else than Keynote at 2, someone that doesn't pound out the air from the ball, someone who is even remotely interested to show defensive process. I know he's young but I know this type. 9/10 they don't become much better than this. Might start hitting more shots yeah. His defense is bad as Clarkson in his worst, and he has less flair. The league is also full of scoring shooting/combo guards so it's not even a risky move to move from him. He has no all NBA ceiling at all so why waste important developmental minutes to someone that gives f about defense.

EDIT: Dislike from CY is like a chef's kiss. I still remember the horrible takes on Walker he had, so this thumbs down only makes me feel more empowered about my assessment to be right. Of course it's not I ordered and hoped for, but it doesn't look promising. I'm all about character and I don't see a winner.
