Should the Jazz Tank the 2010 - 2011 Season?
Let's face it, this team isn't going to win it all next season. We simply don't have the talent to compete with the big boys. If the jazz want to win a championship within the foreseeable future, the only way they'll likely be able to do it is through the draft. Utah is not an attractive destination for free agents and we don't have many valuable pieces to trade with, let alone any that would net us a starter quality talent. Yeah i know about our trade exceptions.
If we want to compete in the future, they need to tank this upcoming season and hope that the ping pong balls fall in our favor. We basically have two years to put together something resembling a contender or else Deron's going to pull a LeBron on us and leave. The only way we'll likely be able to do this is by drafting an all-star talent to make Deron happy. I'm sick of watching our team be just good enough to wiggle their way into the playoffs each year only to loose in the first or second round and get a 12-20 pick in the draft.
So, even though Sloan would likely never allow his players to take a season off, would you be satisfied finishing the season with a sub 20 win record?
