Trump Dictatorship and All Things Politics

It's funny how trumpers say that zelensky cancelled elections.
It's written in their constitution that elections can't be held while this war is being waged.
trumpers want zelensky to go against his countries constitution.
I guess trumpers figure that constitutions are meant to be ignored so they expect zelensky to act the dictator like trump and Putin would.
This is actually a problem driving some of the miscommunication that allows trump his power, the fact that education regarding our political system and our constitution is woefully inadequate. We don't teach these things the way we really should. Just like driving we rely on parents and, in this case, the media to teach our children. And we can see how that has ****ed up everyone's ability to drive. It's also ****ed up everyone's understanding of civics.

USA have no recent memory even of war on their own grounds so some people not realizing it's implications makes kinda sense. That said, it's almost basic common sense to understand how impossible is to have fair elections in a nation under war.

No. It is not written into their constitution that elections cannot be held while this war is raging. What is written in the Ukrainian Constitution is that martial law suspends elections, and Zelensky has declared martial law which effectively makes him dictator of Ukraine.

While I believe Trump can be petty and I don't take is word on much of anything, I do think Marco Rubio is a straight shooter. Rubio has said Zelensky is a problem. He said that he sat down with Zelensky to plan a way forward for how to end the war, and in those talk the subject of security guarantees was brought up along with investment in their country. Zelensky said that he needed to run the proposals by his legislative branch as we do in the US, and Rubio said great. Then Zelensky went to the Ukrainian legislature announcing how the Americans were demanding a mining deal and he told America to pound sand. Then details were mailed off to the press who ate it up.

Marco Rubio said Zelensky made a lot of it up and Zelensky never told anyone in the US delegation to pound sand. Marco Rubio said Zelensky's actions are making it impossible to work with Ukraine.

Americans have virtually no concept of war. We've never had a foreign war on our own soil, and most people don't count that anyway since it was long enough ago no one can fathom it. And even our understanding of the world wars are tainted by the period of severe prosperity that followed it that many Americans view as the "golden age" when white people ruled supreme and "a Christmas story" was a glimpse of nostalgic Americana. So it's easy to convince them that war is just something we win and just makes things better for all the white people in the long run. So no, the vast majority of Americans have no clue what war really means or how severe the consequences can be.

That was not the point...
The point is free and fair elections can happen even in a time of war.

Zelensky has made himself dictator of Ukraine via a declaration of martial law. I believe Marco Rubio when he says Zelensky is a liar and working counter to ending the war in Ukraine.

The USA knows more about war than any country on the planet.

Did you read this on Facebook?

We’re one of the younger countries on the planet, have lost more wars than won, and haven’t fought a justified one since WW2.

Like a tween telling adults how the world works.

I would argue that Gulf War 1 was justified, in that we were protecting Kuwait.

Former Secretary of the Air Force, telling it exactly as it is. Just saw the man speak, and this is a man who recognizes, clearly, what we are seeing in front of our eyes. I hope, I expect, his view to grow more widespread. That might not be the case, were it not for sights like Elon’s chainsaw massacre, and Trump’s rhetorical standing shoulder to shoulder with Putin’s lies and propaganda. Jaw dropping betrayal.

Last paragraph says it all.

President Trump’s decision to fire senior military leaders without cause is foolish and a disgrace. It politicizes our professional military in a dangerous and debilitating way. What frightens me even more is the removal of three judge advocates general, the most senior uniformed legal authorities in the Defense Department. Their removal is one more element of this administration’s attack on the rule of law, and an especially disturbing part.

……the consequences of removing the military’s top judge advocates general, the senior military professionals who interpret and enforce the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the rules that guide troops in the field. They have the independent legal authority to tell any military commander or political appointee that an order from the president or the secretary of defense is unlawful, cannot be given and should not be obeyed.

If there is one characteristic of this president and this administration, it is the utter lack of respect for legal constraints. Mr. Trump has been clear about his views. Among many examples, he recently wrote, “He who saves his country does not violate any law.” It is clear from Mr. Hegseth’s confirmation hearing, public appearances, writings and support for convicted war criminals that he also does not believe JAG officers should constrain war fighters — or presumably the president and secretary of defense.

Mr. Trump and Mr. Hegseth will now get to choose the JAG leadership for all three military departments. One has to ask why JAG leadership was singled out for replacement. This is part of a much larger pattern of disrespect, even disdain, for the rule of law. We do not need JAG leaders who fit this pattern.

Our country is in uncharted territory. We have an administration that is waging war against the rule of law. The evidence is everywhere. We don’t yet know how far it will go as it seeks to control, reinterpret, rewrite, ignore or defy legal constraints, including the Constitution itself. The replacement of the military JAG leadership is one skirmish in that war, but it’s time for the American people, across the political spectrum, to recognize what is happening. America has a rogue president and a rogue administration, and we need to acknowledge that and respond.

You all gonna be okay without Joy? I’m especially worried about fish. Where will he get his propaganda now?

This is literally the first time I have ever saw or heard the name Joy Reid lol. I have never watched MSNBC. I don't even know how to watch it if I wanted to.
Another swing and a miss

It is something that is very common in our nation's history. Famous examples are Truman firing MacArthur and more recently Obama firing McChrystal. The US President is the Commander-In-Chief of the military and he gets to decide such things. We are in very well charted territory.
