2024-2025 Tank Race

This 5 game stretch of NOP, DET, WAS, TOR, PHI is a crazy difficult tanking stretch. We'll se how far DA is willing to go as far as sitting guys.

It would be a pretty big achievement if we can end up 1-4 in this stretch.

The NOP loss was monster. Split the Was games. Philly is hit and miss but now that Embiid is settled I can see them actually winning a couple games. Toronto is solid but weird.

The Hornets are poopy trash. Lamelo is already somewhat unserious but he can take unserious to new levels now that there are absolutely zero stakes. That teams is really bad... like worst in the league right now. I see the Jazz JV team blowing them out.

I think we can hold strong at #3 if NOP can win an unexpected one in the next little while that would be great.

Kind of hilarious that Portland may well finish above Phoenix this year. It was always basically zero, but definitely zero chance Minnesota can drop out of the play-ins now, if only NOP/Phoenix didn't have two of the most disasterous seasons I can remember.

I think Phoenix bottoming out this quick is probably worse for our 2031 pick, but at least it's funny

It does seem like it's going to go down to the wire for 3rd between us and NOP.

It was good to see NOP play all of their healthy guys against us last night. It appears they aren't going to be as gross as we have been to get to 3rd. On the other hand even with Zion and CJ they barely beat the group of guys we threw out there last night...

I think they kinda need the "info" and may goose Zion's value for a trade if they want out of that business. I can see them playing it pretty straight especially if they were to separate from us a little... I doubt that we are able to separate much tho as our schedule is light and theirs is pretty tough the next little while.

I think we both have like 4-5 wins left on the schedule. Going 0-3 against them was huge.

We currently have 0 wins against the bottom 5 teams. Of course we haven't played Toronto or Washington yet, but it's still impressive tanking.

Just to keep reminding myself as I take a deep breath:

- 2 is the goal, guarantees a top 6 pick
- 3 is good, gives us the best possible odds at Flagg/Harper
- 4 is disappointing, but is better than I predicted at the start of the year

There is a very low chance currently at 1 or 5.

Breathes out...
Getting anything later than 6 would be pretty devastating. Falling in love with Wolf is probably somewhat of a product of trying to figure out where I would turn in case we fell below 6.

Traore has a chance to get himself back in to worthy of a top 7 selection discussion, but yeah as it currently stands there is a huge drop off for me after 6.

I think we may need to get Will even more on board to pull out some of these losses. Like we need a Cody Williams as primary creator type narrative where we decide he needs experience running the show. Its dumb but might pass the smell test for 5-6 games.

I will also say Oscar needs to stay the hell out of these Mickey Mouse March games. That kind of effort will get us in trouble during March. FOH to all the super tryhards.

Kind reminder that he almost ruined the Raptors championship run before it started by trying to trade Lowry to the Knicks. When so much luck is involved in winning a title, it's often the luckiest (not the best) who win it all.
Just his oscillating back and forth with rebuild/acquisition and holding on 1-1.5 seasons too long on guys he should clearly trade. FVV bounces for what?

Just a weird construction right now... and watch him luck out and land a top pick that makes him a genius again. He has so much equity there that the ownership group would spend a ton and allow him to rebuild or whatever he wanted... and he really has had just the most mid results. That kind of autonomy is hard to find for GMs and he has done anything impressive with it.
