Game Thread Mar 10, 2025 05:30PM MT: Utah Jazz @ Boston Celtics

Added to Calendar: 03-10-25

Second game of a back to back hits different when you've sat your whole starting lineup for 3 games, hope we let the guys run and Tatum suits up and goes off

Kessler playing. JC and Keyonte out. Markkanen and Collins questionable. Probably waiting to see if Tatum and Horford (questionable as well) play or not. If they don't, won't risk it - and if they do, then it'll be fine.

Playing one of the better teams in the league? All of our starters be like:

Feel like if anyone is sitting vs the Celtics they must be legitimately hurt/recovering because there's no reason to rest on the road vs one of the best teams in the NBA.

If Lauri isn't going to play tonight then I'm not really sure what the point of bringing him out on the road trip was. If he is still having back problems I don't think traveling is the best solution.

Sir the solution is a problem... but the problem is the ultimate solution.

I think they take a few guys out the shed tonight but hopefully the Celtics are in take care of business mode and not chill mode. That is the danger with these games if we play some of our rested and effective vets. We have a bunch of 50/50 games if the vets play coming up... so let them play tonight then manage their backs or whatever.

The only back issue Markkanen has had since the first week of November is the tank parked on his back. He absolutely does not have a injury.

I'm not so sure. I have no doubt that if we were trying to win games he would be playing, but it does seem like something is wrong with him this year. There have been many games that he doesn't seem to be moving right and it reminds me a little bit of how stiff Favors got after he started dealing with back stuff.

I obviously hope he isn't dealing with anything chronic, but it would almost be a relief to know he is dealing with a non chronic injury in order to explain away some of his poor play this year.

I'm sure in the back of his head (not his back) is the thought: why try, why battle through the screens, why cut and move on every play? For what purpose?

And he hasn't looked "wrong" for all of the season, only since the team started holding him out a week, two weeks, another two weeks. Anyone is going to look rusty if they're not going full speed for a week or two and then expected to again.

Clarkson and Key are the only regulars out. The three two way guys have been sent back to the Stars so it's full tank speed ahead.

With Tatum out, that probably means no Markkanen.
And that is exactly what happens.

I think we can also stop with the talk about the back, when Markkanen is going to play and then is declared out an hour before (so before anyone's on the court) with "injury management".
