So... do the Wiz get a $100K fine? Middleton was an all star at one point if I remember correctly.
No, they don't. Only this season and the previous two count (and Middleton's last All Star selection was -22). Plus comparing him to holding out Markkanen for 9 straight is not very useful, when Middleton has in fact played in 11 straight games.

Wouldn't hurt to file an official complaint. At least give out the impression that everyone is doing it and no harm no foul. So we don't get singled out and look bad from that Lauri fine.

But didn't Lauri have a legit injury though? Last time I checked Brogdon was held out for an ankle injury and missed 14 straight. Last time he played was over a month ago. Ask them to release the medical record. What kind of ankle injury requires 1month+ to recover?

No, he didn't. He hasn't had a back injury since October.

And 1) Brogdon isn't a "star player" as he's never been an All Star, let alone All NBA + 2) Collins has been out for a week, with the Jazz announcing his ankle will be next evaluated in two weeks, so the answer is "the type that John Collins has".

I don't get it why is it so hard to see the Jazz have been tanking harder and more flagrantly than anyone else. They got caught, whatever. Isn't that what everyone wanted?

Kinda wonder how much guidance teams ask for and the league gives surrounding tanking issues. League has to know that its system incentivizes teams to lose.

You'd also think that it's in the league's interest to (at least quietly/behind the scenes) let it be known where the lines are between what it will and will not tolerate.

So far, all we've really seen this year is a punishment for a "star" player sitting. And even amid all the things other teams did in the past, the only punishment I remember was for the Mavs kind of loudly acknowledging that they were trying to lose a game.

Jazz have been eliminated from the playoffs. Their only reasonable objective is to "see what they have" with their young players. There's nothing else to play for, but get ready for the summer and next season. If the league wants to curtail tanking, it needs to apply to the first half of the season when the season's outcome is still undetermined. Lots of teams are going to shut down players at this point, like the Jazz have with John Collins and the Sixers have with Paul George.

The situation with the Mavs a couple years back was different, since they were actually a playoff-competitive team that held out their stars so they could do a U-turn and miss the playoffs.

I suspect the Wizards complained to the league about Markkanen not playing. Our tank caught them, and they got pissed. Tonight’s game is a must-watch, at least for me. The gloves are off.

Maybe, but the Wizards have been competitive and won several games recently. That's the main reason the Jazz caught them.

Yeah, that's kinda my point. So much goes "unpunished," that it wouldn't surprise me if the league is guiding teams more than we realize about where the lines are.

Wrong again. He twisted his ankle in the Chicago game

Are you on drugs? Collins didn't play against the Bulls, hasn't played since last Thursday, when he turned his ankle at the end of the Grizzlies game.
Sorry, I meant Timberwolves game. I didn’t say Collins twisted his ankle. Here is the quote you responded to:
“But didn't Lauri have a legit injury though?”

Here is your dumb response:
“No, he didn't. He hasn't had a back injury since October”

If you actually watched the games…

“Markkanen tweaked his ankle on [Monday] night as the Jazz lost to the Timberwolves. He stayed in the game and played through the injury despite visible discomfort following the injury.

I don't see how that's relevant to anything, because Markkanen has not missed a game due to his ankle.

All the tanking, the fine etc. was his phantom back injury.

Whatever, dude. I was just responding to Lauri having a legit injury, which is what the original poster asked about. If you just want to repeatedly yell out to the void about your tanking insecurities, I guess good luck. I think once was enough though.

No, he was saying that the Jazz shouldn't have gotten a fine, because Markkanen had a legit injury. Which he didn't. The ankle happened after the fine, and he didn't miss a game because of it.

as happy as i am that we're tanking properly with gusto .. this is gonna be awkward af not sure if i can watch

having said that at home i don't see how we possibly lose this one. I guarantee an overdue and unfortunate comfortable win
