Political sub-forum

Just wondering how this works.

If I post a political thread must it be posted in the "political" subforum?

The "political" subforum came populated with mainly political threads. Was this a manual process or some type of AI process?
Will threads be either manually or algorithmically classified as political going forward by jazzfanz.com staff and/or software?

Will non-political threads that get hijacked or derailed into political discussions be moved to the "political" sub-forum?

Is there a penalty for introducing political discussion into plainly non-political threads?

Thank you. It seems like a good thing to me.

The majority of posters post their own words more than they post copies of online news sources or other media, like tweets. Of course, posting a link or a clip of something that is relevant can be useful in a discussion, but it should contribute to the discussion, not be the discussion. If that were the case we could just abandon the internet to the bot and troll armies and let them spam each other endlessly.

There are very few posters who post primarily tweets. It seems like people who don't post their own words seem most likely to post tweets because they probably don't read entire articles. Just fetch tweets from trusted propagandists and share them relentlessly.

Saying this here for consistency. I believe that constant posting of memes, tweets or links with no engagement from the group and no discourse from the author is considered a trolling behavior. Many of you place members like this on ignore and do just that, ignore it. But the behavior also impacts the readability and hopeful welcoming nature of the community. I typically don’t go looking for things to issue warnings or infractions and instead let the community do that. But in just my segmenting the political topics, I was astonished at the personal journal this site seems to host for some. Again with no engagement!!

So…

@Political Jazz Fan - I would encourage you to change your contributions, perhaps even in the JAZZ area of this JAZZ website. For the record, it has nothing to do with your political views. This behavior would be painful in any forum topic area.

If there are others that do this, please report it.

I just want to reiterate that I get tons of interaction from the few conservative people on the site. 98% of jazzfanz is liberal or Trump haters. These 98% do not interact because they choose to not read my posts.

Unfortunately I have not had anything to say about the Jazz in several years because they suck. Have been a huge fan all my life and now I could not care less about the team.

Formatting question, @Jason. Can we make it so the the GD only shows the most recent GD post, rather than the most recent Politics post?
