Following Potential 2025 Draftees

I just saw Sanon is leaving AZ St. For St. Johns. One thing to consider is that with revenue sharing basketball only schools will have a bigger piece of the pie for their schools.
Yes. I imagine it's a bigger piece of a much smaller pie (w/o football revenue), but a heft chunk of NIL $ will go way further in hoops than it will trying to build a two-deep football roster.

Another big day for NBA prospects in the tourney:

Egor, Philon, Queen, Condon, Bryant, Flagg, Kon, Khaman, Fland, Toppin all playing today.
Philon is really intriguing. Could see him being overshadowed a bit by Sears and having more that he hasn't shown. He might make life tough for Demin.

How would we view VJ if we knew nothing about him before? I wonder if he's suffering from the "underwhelming" effect.

His usage is 100% effected by playing next to 4 other 5-year guys, so that definitely effects his counting stats. I think he has still been able to give a pretty good idea of what he can do with his limited reps. I think it's clear he's probably not a 100% on ball guy in the NBA, which is tough when you don't shoot it great. I think he's shown enough to believe he is at least a part time on ball guy though, and his shot isn't so bad that I don't think it can't improve.

If he does end up getting the best of Egor in this game, you can guarantee he will let Egor know all about it, lol.

Philon is amazing on paper....he just doesn't have great physical tools some I'm worried about his transition to the NBA.

I mean he is going to go 3 or 4 in the draft so not sure he's suffering. He's basically right where I expected him to be but had hoped to see him really pop.

In my opinion, if anything, he's getting mocked higher because of his preseason hype. Besides the highlight plays, I'm not sure you can point to anything specifically that would make you think he is going to be a really high level NBA player.

FWIW, I think the 3-5 range is right where he should be in this draft. What he's shown gives him a pretty high floor and is athleticism gives him a pretty high ceiling.

I think he's also benefitted from no one other than Harper and Coop really popping and putting a stranglehold on 3 or 4. Ace looked great for a few weeks and faded pretty hard. Kas faded... Traore/Demin feel way off.

He's skinny, but so are a lot of the guys his age. I don't know his measurements, but he looks plenty long to defend 1 or 2s. He's functionally athletic enough to put up the stocks/rebounding numbers he is, so I'm not really sure what you are concerned about?

I think most would agree that this class is disappointing though. I guess I'm not saying he's suffering in his draft position, but I think the excitement to get VJ at 3 was likely higher than getting VJ at 3 is now. Before the year it seemed like there could be 4-5 guys that were considered #1 caliber.

I am always one to say that the way they play basketball is more than the measurables, but if he had the physical tools to match his numbers (like a Castle or Black in previous years) I think he could be considered a top 8 pick. His numbers are better than those two, just not the same athlete and frame. It's the difference between being a top 8 pick versus probably a top 15-20 player on my board.

Yeah I agree. I think there are 2 guys you feel are cornerstones. I think VJ is more a building block with potential to be a cornerstone if a handful of things click in maybe. Coming into the season you could squint and see 5ish guys that are cornerstones and it just kinda didn't pan out that way or they **** the bed.

CMB is probably top 5 on my homer list, but I'm not sure I would even want the Jazz to draft him if he was available with the Minnesota pick. I suppose he's like Queen where he really needs to go to the right situation.

Maybe I just don't have enough imagination, but I just can't see how his game works in the NBA. I still love him though and really really hope that he figures it out in the NBA, because I would love to watch him dominate in the league.

Plain and simple, he needs to shoot well enough to play on a spaced floor. If he can do that then things become interesting.

I've seen Philon in the second round but can't remember if it was ESPN or Wasserman or something. Pretty wild from about 8/9 on. Might be someone really interesting on the board when the Minny pick comes around.
