2024-2025 Tank Race

I know stones and glass houses and all, but this Philadelphia team is so intentionally BAD. Its only a 9 point game now at half, but they look so much worse than that at home against Washington.

I knew the 76ers were going to lose tonight's game against the Wizards. They’re pulling all the tank stops now.

Both. Lottery odds (number combinations) are distributed evenly or even-ish. Default draft position is resolved via a coin flip.
Jazz lose every coin flip they are involved with. Take that to the bank. I suppose we could finally win this one and the #2 pick wins the lottery though.

If we're ending up flipping a coin with Washington that is disaster territory, we're flipping for 5th or 6th since we tied for last and both got jumped by 4 teams. Odds would be split for the actual lottery portion and coin flips should only decide order after that.

I know there's like a 25% of that if we end up in that scenario but thinking about this just made me sad

How do tie breakers work in the lottery? Coin flip, or do they average the odds out?

If you look at the algorithm, the first question is, “is one of the teams the Utah Jazz?” If yes, the other team gets it. If no, then proceed to the rest of the protocol.

The Jazz did win a pre-draft coin flip in 2014, such that the Jazz got the #5 pick (Exum) and the Celtics got the #6 pick (Smart).

Isn't coin flips prior to the lottery?

Edit: It does for example impact 2nd round pick as well, plus probably ping pong balls if they're an uneven number.
