The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

The Bulls figured out that their tank was hopeless (not enough playoff teams in the east) and then Giddey started balling out. Crazy on all fronts.
100% predictable. Giddey is a March merchant. Chicagos strategy is to oscillate between strategies so they can effectively stay play in good.

I think part of this is being a March merchant, but Giddey has also gotten a lot better and is in a better situation. Sometimes it's easy to forget just how young these guys are. Giddey is only 22 years old. I don't think what he's doing is "fake", but it probably couldn't happen on a better team that has ball handlers who are better than him. He's got to run the show himself, but he's actually not too bad at it. Perfect player for CHI who want to be mid forever.

He's definitely improved a little bit defensively and his shot looks a bit better and he seems to have more confidence in it. The kid has always been able to play but its exciting from an Australian perspective to see his game continue to grow.

Grizz just fired their coach, wild. Methinks that this will not solve the issues they have and it will eventually result in Ja being traded down the line.
Wow, I haven't heard anything about why this happened. What are they saying? Seems pretty crazy to fire a head coach a month before the post season.

I mean we do forget how young these people are... sometimes even Josh himself forgets how young people are.

With Giddey I would just beware of paying him big money based on his post AS numbers which are crazy.

Giddey's career March splits are pretty hilarious. 18/8/7 60% TS. 53/40 shooting splits. This March 22.5/10/10 63% TS 52.5/41 shooting splits. All I'm saying is pay for calendar year Giddey not March Giddey or you will regret it.

We dont have money to spend, so nothing to worry about.

Oh I was speaking more of if I was Chicago. Doubt he's on our radar even if we did have money... and could always do a sign and trade if Bulls balk at the contract amount.

Like Giddey at $20Mish a year seems fine. I think he asks $30Mish and that would make me really nervous if I was signing him.

Another player having a crazy month of March. I mean it's as if Portland already had Flagg on their team. These are Joker esque numbers, all within the span of 30 days and no ones taking about it. What a steal by them. Gotta be the best non-rookie contract in the NBA.

I read about the Grizzlies Jenkins gate from forums and fans, and it seems some say that Jenkins was regularly suggested plays in games by the assistant Iisalo (and being ignored), and players were many times taking his side which caused tension. So it might be that Iisalo just in under one season became players favorite, and the GM, feeling pressure from the ownership to succeed, pulled the plug and did what might make the players more happier and maybe it'll lead to improved results.

Deni has been crazy good. DIdnt really expect him to reach this level of play. He's got another 3 years on an incredible contract.

Kind of an interesting question as to whether he was worth it for the Blazers since he has made it impossible for them to truly tank.

Which is why The Wheel should exist. Teams should not have to question if adding talent is a good or bad long-term strategy. In a just world cream rises to the top through smart transactions, trades, and signings and draft picks are evenly distributed.

Memphis did a pretty radical offense change this season. They barely run PNR and their best player (which I guess is arguable given JJJ) is primary a PNR player.

It was working out really well. I know they were sliding recently, but I didnt think it was *that* bad.

I’ve always been cynical about his potential mainly bc of the shooting. But it’s 38 % on 3s for the whole year. His career 3 pt has gone 26, 32,33 and 38

And as they were sliding, Jenkins started going back on the offense.

The Griz FO put Jenkins on notice in the summer by firing all his assistants and bringing new ones in - Iisalo especially.

So now it's on Iisalo to prove his offense is a winning one.
