Following potential 2012 draftees

It all comes back to Roy. When you have a coach like him that whines at every opportunity and walks off the court when losing, you're going to have a bunch of pansy players.

What most people saw last night, was two coaches who refuse to make changes to the way they coach and are suffering because of it. I love Coach K, but his insistence on ALWAYS running a high pressure man to man defense is just stupid. Stupid.

Factual information: UNC outrebounded Duke 41-31. Wish I had time to look up points in the paint as well, but yeah bottom line is Duke won.

FWIW, NCJazz, I would have been just as congratulatory to you had Rivers' shot not gone in. You're both good posters here and I put aside my collegiate rivalries for individuals that are respectful and you both have been that, completely.

PKM,

I know that Alex Poythress is not a 2012 draftee, but I just wanted your thoughts on his ability to play SF in the NBA. Is he a SF or a PF?

That kid is a monster. I like that kid. Isn't he only like 6'7? I know he is ripped. But, I dont know if he is tall enough to be a great PF.

Yeah, no big deal just a regular season game. I kinda like Duke in a way actually. Respect what they have done as a program. Still tough to lose to them though.

Are you sure you're talking about me here? You must be thinking of somebody else.

SF. Slasher, needs to work on his shot. Good defender, athletic, I like him a lot.

I feel ya bro, I respect UNC the program, always liked Dean Smith, always liked some of your players. I would be lying if I said I liked Roy though, he's a smug douchebag. I really like Kendall Marshall and Zeller though, and not just because of Zeller's tip in...he's just always seemed like a good player and a good guy. It's a great rivalry other than some of the retard fans.

If the Jazz can get either Q. Miller or Kidd-Gilchrist in this draft, the future will be looking bright. The Jazz just need to add a scoring wing and decent PG to the players they have now.

Then we probably just need a back-up big and a stretch 4, and we're good.

meyers leonard had a monster 1st half against cody zeller. He plays his best against better comp. Sacre from the zags and against sullinger. Dont know why you jazz fans dont like this kid. Would love to see him up against unibrow. Leonard to strong for davis and is more athletic then davis

I brought him up earlier in this thread as someone I'd most definitely punch a baby in the face or throw an old woman down the stairs for the Jazz to get. He is not ready to make the jump to the NBA, however. Still needs another year in college. He's still got some strides to make on the mental side, as well as learning how to play. But the facts are he's got the ideal frame for a center. Great athleticism, and excellent skill offensively. He's got great post moves, range out to 18 feet and can pass. However, he can't do all of that consistently quite yet. He can block shots, but he's still got a long ways to go defensively playing every possession.

I'm as crazed a fan for my alma mater as I am the Jazz and have watched every game. Meyers has made some improvements this year, but he still has a bunch of lapses where he gets too overcome with emotion (whether its not getting touches when he's open, bad calls from the refs, cheap shots from opponents, etc) and he takes himself out of the game. He's also been dominant at times.

Odds are he'll leave because he'll be a lotto pick, but he won't be a solid contributor in the NBA for at least a few years. But he has the tools to be an NBA All-Star if he continues to work hard (and he does have a great work ethic).

He's my favorite Illini since Dee and I'm praying he stays because he could be unstoppable next year with a year of college experience under his belt. Last year, his true frosh season, is a wash because he barely played.

This doesn't seem pukish to me.. This is a nice half-court set oop he throws, it is about NBA 3-point range. Imagine getting him in the 2nd round to come off the bench to throw that to Evans or Favors. I like it!

Idk I have seen them play and there offense is very good. It's far from full of broken plays, or sloppy. They are are good athletes that love to get out in transition, they just get in a hurry sometimes.

Yeah but that's a highlight....you can't judge from highlights. Plus, that's just a simple back door screen. The NBA will easily be able to stop that. I haven't seen them play though so you might be right. I dunno, I'd give Machado a shot with the 2nd round pick because the Jazz are just sooo desperate in need for a PG.

A 7 footer than can dribble down the court like that. That's impressive.

Not sure if that's sarcasm, but he used to be a lot smaller early on in HS and was a guard. However, he played against really bad competition in HS (another reason his transition to big time D1 has been slow) coming from a small town.

He hasn't done any handling in college. I suppose once he gets more comfortable with the game and level of competition, he'll be able to put it on the floor if he faces his guy up in a 1 on 1 situation 10-15 feet from the cup. I just linked that video to show him jumping over a kid to dunk it to give a quick example of his athleticism.

Not saracasm. Not many 7 footers can do that. Remember Fesenko? Yeah, most 7 footers are that uncoordinated. The dunk is pretty awesome too.

I like Leonard, but ... I'll just wait for the numbers from the combine to prove how laughable that is.

Sorry, I missed the question somehow. Alex is a special player. 6-8 and plays effectively on the perimeter. Hits out to the three, very strong, very quick first step, gets to the rim, excellent handles, honor roll student .. will be a very good college player. We'll have to see him play next year, against top competition, before being sure he could play SF in the NBA .. my gut tells me he'll be labled as a tweener. We'll see.

Just one more reason nbadraft.net has garbage mocks .. they updated yesterday and moved Quincy Miller from the lottery this year, to next year .. and being taken 30th. WTF?

Yea, last year was the first year that I started looking for mock drafts that theirs was always so much different than anything else I was getting.

......

huh??? That might be their worst prediction yet. And that's saying something...

Pshhh.. those mocks are 100% accurate. Looks like we can trade down trade down to get quincy miller next year lol.. No but, really I saw the other day that they had Andre Drummond on 2012 and 2013 mocks.. It's crap

oh and btw who ever said Davis is less athletic then Leonard.. That was a funny joke. Go watch the kid actually play for Illinois and then go watch Davis play for Kentucky.

Actually, I'd be willing to bet Leonard tests out better then Davis in almost every athletic and strength combine category. However, Davis is light years ahead of Leonard as far as feel goes and not that far behind athletically.

Davis' impact on defense has been truly mind boggling this season. I'm sure that will translate into the NBA as well. I just still don't see where he'll fit offensively. I'm not saying he's not worthy of being selected 1st overall or top 5 - I just don't know how he'll be able to impact the game offensively in the NBA.
