What's new

OKC Thunder @ Utah Jazz: ESPN/Root Sports @ 8:30PM MST

Against LAL, our PGs were +5
Against GSW, our PGs were -22
Against NYC, our PGs were -21
Against IND, our PGs were -19
Against OKC, our PGs were -23

One win, four losses.

Our front court usually outplays the other team's front court, but it's too much to have to make up 20 points a night.

REP-tilian

EDIT: Must spread

Here's a couple stats to think about tonight: kanter and favors played 13:47 each. Cj miles had 8 points on 9 shots. Alec Burks had his 4th consecutive DNP (locke's theory is that Burks doesn't truly understand the value of a possession so he needs to sit and learn. U think CJ understands the value more??) Westbrook had 28 points on 50% shooting on the back end of a back to back.

just trying to save their bodies for later in their careers?

If improvement could be made from watching from the bench Fes would've been a freakin' All-Star.

Here's another stat to get u thinking: jazz are now 2-6 this year in games that are nationally televised. The only 2 wins are against the formidable New Jersey Nets and the Sacramento Kings.

Ya know what else I'm tired of? Well I'll tell you anyway....I'm tired of Jazz broadcasters comparing the jazz to OKC.

"we're building through the draft with young players, just like OKC" No. the Jazz are not. yes, the jazz have young draft picks like OKC did three years ago, the jazz are nothing like OKC. OKC drafted four Scorers (Durant, Green, Westbrook, Harden) then let them play a bunch of minutes together, then they adjusted their roster and filled in with role players and defense.

The Jazz , as near as i can tell, have 3 high draft pick role players, and another guy who is redshirting or something cause I haven't seen him play in 3 weeks. Now I may be wrong, the jazz could have three young stars to play with 'Hayward the Role Player', but there is no way to know because Hayward is the only one who sees consistent extended minutes, and it is increasingly clear he will never be more than a role player.

Jazz are not following the OKC model, it looks more like the Detroit Pistons model or the Chicago Bulls-Post jordan to Derrick Rose model.

This man gets it.

You do know what a role player is right? A guy that excels in one area and can do nothing else. Does that sound like Hayward?

On the bright side, Utah is only 3 games ahead of the Dubs.

At least we may have some control over our own destiny.;)

Mellow,

I completely agree. Nice post. The Jazz need to get some scorers in the next draft. It is so frustrating to see how the Jazz organization continues playing the vets over developing our players.

I think it's quite possible that we'll see a trade by the deadline. Until then, I'm not going to worry too much about possible trade chips getting playing time.

Locke's statement is the exact problem with the Jazz thinking. CJ has had like 7 years to understand the value of a possession. Need I remind people that Kevin D. and Westbrook are not the same players they were as rookies. They were allowed to play through their mistakes. Jazz rookies get their minutes cut or don't play. If KD was on the Jazz he would have had to sit because his defense and rebounding were not that great his rookie year. I have just about had it with the conservative mentality the Jazz have.

Once again, Big Al and Milsap are too short, too bad at defending, black holes on offense, and too bad at rebounding.
I'll say this though..I was impressed with a lot of the passes Devin Harris threw tonight. If he can do that, he's good enough for me.
He's really really good at pick n rolls..I am pleasantly surprised but he needs to run a ton more of those.

8 point on 9 shots, and I'm sure all 8 points were from ally oops.

Six on alley-oops, two on a fast-break dunk after a team-mate's steal, getting an over-the-top pass. The rest of his shots were (IIRR) all jumpers.

There is a thread already made for this type of discussion. I know that rainhut has crapped all over it, but it can still be saved...

We are following the Jerry Sloan model. Play the vets, and make the rookies earn their time sitting through painful film sessions watching them.
