What's new

When does the damn game start? Utah Jazz (13-12) at Memphis Grizzlies (14-13), 9:30 p.m. (ET)

I gotta give some credit to Raja. He has been playing well lately.

10 points tonight isn't spectacular, but I will take a game like this from him any time. Maybe my expectations are too low.

He has also been a great mentor to Hayward. He helps with toughness on team

Hayward and Al were the men in the first half, Bell and Sap in the 2nd (though to be fair to Hayward and Al, they played well in both halfs).

The bench went from being goats into having a very solid 4th quarter. Was good to see.

everyone knows i dont like big al, but he played pretty good today, i dont care about his stats but he did his job. Well its normal he makes some stupid mistakes every game due to his low iq (like falling into those pump fakes every single time) but he did his job.

What i was thrilled was haywards performance, he seemed like pretty confident which was something he lacks at times. I hope its not only for this game but he continues his performance. He has a major importance for utahs future, as big as either kanter or favors. Because he is the only player who can be a leader in future and knows team play so good. Favors still has a lot of way to go to learn teamwork and kanter has a lot of things to learn as well

He could hear Chris Mullen stroking his ego in the background.

i didn't catch the game tonight. i saw favors only played 15:46 and kanter played 11:57. did they deserve more minutes than that?

And that is why I wouldn't trade Raja Bell for a Clippers 2nd round pick

It's comical at time the Bell hate. People complain that our 5th option can't create offense. What 5th option can? He does his job, rarely makes mistakes that cost the team (something you can't say about Howard, Miles, or Burks), hits open shots, keeps the offense running, and draws about 2-3 fouls per game off his cuts.

No, both had pretty poor in the 1st half. Kanter didn't play terrible, but he wasn't impacting the game. Favors played better in the 2nd half and played more.

That's a classic example of grinding out a win. Outside of Hayward it was ugly, ugly basketball by both teams (especially by Memphis) for most of the game but we kept playing hard, didn't get too jumpshot happy and in the 4th-qtr got some good looks at the basket. Nice win, now we need to capitalize on this momentum and not have a letdown tomorrow night against a bad Hornets team.

We've seen Al really struggle against length (Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum and Roy Hibbert) but he really played well against Marc Gasol tonight. If only we could get efficiency like that more consistently.

Jazz finally won on national tv!
Yup, now 1-4 on the year (I don't consider nbatv as national television either).

I was down on Raja for a while because he just threw up bricks.

But his shooting has improved and he is doing a lot of little things, so I am fine with him now.

I do wish we could get a better 2, but Burks could be that guy

I like Chris Mullen by the way. He has a lot of good insight and has a little humor to his commenting. He seems taken with our boy, Hayward. Hayward has been impressing me more and more every game. I hope this trajectory stays rising.

He is alright I guess. His voice kind of grates me at times, but he won me over a bit with his Hayward love.

What I liked about Hayward tonight is that he did it all. He hit the 3, he hit the mid-range, he drove to the hoop and scored, he drove and kicked for easy shots, he ran the break and finished hard.
I hope to see more of it. The kid has talent.

Hayward had a swagger tonight that I haven't seen since the end of last season from him. He was continually trying to dunk on people, hitting the step back 3 (foot on the line - long 2, but it's still his mind set), fadeaway jumpers over gigantic gasol.

Hayward optimism from last year quickly returning.

Gotta get the win tomorrow in NO. Second game of a back to back, but the hornets are awful. These are the road games you gotta get.

Fun game. Very happy for the team and their effort. Big Al has GOT to figure out how to pass more. Shooting the ball against a triple team is just plain stupid. I don't care if it did go in, that was just plain black hole selfish. Millsap is the anchor. I love his efforts and smarts.

Did you watch the game at all Al was brilliant, and had 4 assists, and dominated Gasol!

I wonder if Al's selfishness gets to the big men. I haven't seen Milsap pass much and Favors has like 8 assists the enitre season or something.
Lol I remember that triple team play that you're talking about...that was soooo dumb

I agree. I want the Jazz to blow out the Hornets tomorrow night so they get as much rest as they possibly can for the rematch against OKC on Tuesday. They have to. The Hornets have the WORST record in the Western Conference. I have realized something. Gordon Hayward needs to be our #2 scoring option. If he is on, it takes a lot of pressure of Millsap. Millsap's ideal role on this team should be the #3 scorer, IMO. Gordon has been playing much better of late. One could say that he is returning to his late-season form from last year. If Mr. Hayward can become a consistent 15-20 ppg scorer, the Jazz will become a much, much better team. His perimeter scoring ability opens up things down low for Milly and Big Al. Mr. Jefferson was simply outstanding tonight. Not only did he have 21 points, but he also had 15 rebounds. The play, IMO, that was most impressive by Al tonight was the one in the 4th quarter when he passed up a jumper and instead passed it to Raja for a three late in the shot clock. Big Al played very unselfishly tonight. He even passed an ally-oop to Paul.

This is one game where Jefferson Haters need to just say Big Al played a good game. It was better than Millsap's. 21, 15, 4 is pretty dang good.

Truth. Al played a great game. Gasol was very obviously motivated to dominate, it was a great battle to watch.
