Playoff Birth VS Keeping our pick

As we all know - our 2012 draft pick is top 14 protected. Meaning we would probably lose it to Minnesota if we do get into the playoff. My question is - knowing that we would probably be fighting for the 8th seed - would you rather:

a) Sneak into the playoff as an 8th seed (and giving our young guys playoff experience); or
b) Become like the 13th worst team (and get a pretty good player through the draft).

Note: There is also a chance we may not have the GS pick as it is top 7 protected. GS is currently sitting around the 8th seed.
 
I don't think that the experience gained will do anything for our young guys. If the Jazz make it to the playoffs then Corbin will probably be playing Jefferson?Millsap/Harris/Bell about 30 or more minutes a night. That does nothing to help us for the future.

Good point. Vets would probably get the vast majority of pt anyway so getting a lottery pick sure looks appealing. With two lottery picks we could also potentially move up and get someone real good.
 
This season is incredibly boring. The players seem tired for all teams and I can't stand the Al-Milsap combo coupled with the Howard-CJ combo off the bench.

I say tank it and get some good picks. Of course, by tank it...I mean play Milsap-Al combo a lot.
 
I hate watching us lose, so I had to pick playoff's. I would not be upset with the pick though. Win-win situation.
 
I do not really agree with either option. I want the rookies to be developed and see what we get. We make the playoffs then that is kickass. We do poorly and get 1-2 picks in the draft and know exactly what we have in Hayward, Favors, Kanter and Burks then that is kickass to.
 
At this point I would give Golden State there pick back if they would take Jefferson and Harris along with it. Too bad the money doesn't work.

This team is screwed until they draft a killer 2 and 3.

The problem is our idea of that is different to KOC's and Ty's. They'd rather have the rookies developed behind Al & Millsap. While I'd personally want to see him mix it up a bit, i.e., Al & Favors and Kanter & Millsap at times (Starting pair depending on match ups).
 
I would rather us make the playoffs - more Jazz basketball and as a FAN I want us to win and have that chance to win it all (Even though it would be slim).

With that being said, If playing the young guys means we miss the playoffs that would be my pick. I am more for developing Kanter/Favors/Burks/Hayward as they are the future of this team for the next 4 years+.

The bonus picks that could come of a result of this is bonus and most likely.
 
The last thing I want is Utah getting too good too fast. I don't want one mediocre 8th seed playoff season for another decade of first/second round playoff exits. I'll take one bad season for a chance at a decade of second/third round playoff exits!
 
I'm not sure if I want to decide until the trade deadline. Lets say we get rid of Harris, Miles, Howard for a quality PG or shooter *fingers crossed*. This will free up more space for some valuable time for some of our rooks to go into the playoffs. WHY NOT? However, let's say we don't trade any of the players that we particularly hate. We pick up a great top 5 draft pick (PG or SG) and knowing TY, he'll probably play Harris, Miles, and any stinky vet over them anyways and we have another terrible year and everyone on Jazzfanz will start bitchin all over again. It's an endless cycle. Either trade some vets this year and fight for the playoffs, or wait for another hopeless year with a high draft pick that'll get no playing time anyways. Hmmmm..... how come there is no "cheese" option in the poll?

Right.... Good call learning to win isn't going to help the young players at all. Stop speaking out your ***!
