Why he dunked....instead of taking a 3 pointer!

The Nuggets had the ball, a timeout and a 102-99 lead with 4.9 seconds left. Martell Webster stole the ensuing inbounds pass and -- to the astonishment of Wolves fans -- he went down the floor for a slam dunk that left the Wolves one point shy with 1.3 seconds left.

"We talked about we needed a three," Adelman said. "I think he caught the ball, stole it and maybe emotions got the best of him."

When questioned about his choice after the game, Martell just said: "I dunked the ball....that's what I do best.....I dunk the basketball!"

He said he was planning on getting fouled and get the and 1 to tie it. Not a bad strategy IMO and one I never really thought of doing

...."planned on getting fouled?" I guess he thought the opposition was just as dumb as he was! Don't you think they knew the Wolves needed 3 points not 2 to tie the game? I suspect your basketball IQ ranks right up there with most of the jailhouse tat dummies that have infiltrated today's NBA!

I agree that counting on being fouled is not smart. The other team would be going out of their way not to foul, and ref's (generally) would shy away from calling a foul unless it's pretty blatant.
I do not agree with the name calling from carolinajazz, it's something a hopper NBA player would do if they were on Jazzfanz.

....do you really think the NBA dummies who make those brainless plays really think they did something wrong??? Generally, they justify everything they do....or blame it on the shoes!!!

Are you justifying your name calling? Was it your shoes?

My point is that I'm not cool with the name calling in your post.
I didn't say a single thing about how smart or dumb KillaCam or NBA players are.

....I merely called today's NBA players "jailhouse tat dummies." I never call killa Cam a name, did I???

I think Martell is a solid player and is the kind of scorer/shooter the jazz need right now. If you watch the video, a defender was there trying to keep him from getting to the rim, its not far out there to think a foul is a possibility.

See your response after you quoted KillaCam.

Note the bolded, italicized, underlined part.
Thanks

My interpretation is that you are saying KillaCam is dumb.....etc.
Would you care to backpedal, or just accept that you did what you did?

I don't even know why it's a big deal. Instead of trying to deny what you did... try just not caring that I don't agree with it.

I might be a rookie on this forum, but when it comes to basketball knowledge, I have a great deal of it. Ive played at the college level and I suspect many on this board are just fans...

If you are not in the NBA, or an owner or an NBA coach... you are just a fan.
Even if you've played at the college level.

...I didn't know calling a person a "dummy" was name calling! Isn't "dummy" an adjective and not a noun???

Are you trying to deflect. Isn't that rule one, when you are wrong, start to argue semantics.
Are you trying to bait me into calling you names?
I will, in case you are wondering.

Name calling is for retards you big retard!

Do you have NBA experince...my guess is no...

Im not just talking about the NBA, Im talking about basketball as a competitive sport overall. Having experience, I feel I have enough knowledge to decipher between a bonehead play and a smart one. I feel Martells play had some substance to it.

It sure sounded like you were saying many posters here are "just" fans, and you are not "just" a fan because you played college ball.
If I did not play college ball it must mean I'm not smart enough to truly understand the game, but you can because playing in college makes you smarter. Sure it gives you some experience, but that does not make you a more knowledgeable fan than other fans just for that reason. There are plenty of players with talent that don't really get the game, but can sure jump and are tall. That doesn't mean they really get the game.

My point about the NBA, was that if you don't play, coach, or own in the NBA... you are "just" a fan too. I never claimed to be any of those.

As to Webster's play, it was dumb. If you are down 3, and there is not enough time to foul the other team for another possession, and this will be your last shot... you have to take a 3 pointer, period. You have to play the odds, the best odds to tie the game. Driving for a dunk worth 2 points and hoping for a foul is just dumb basketball. That counts for H.S., College, NBA, Intramurals, and Backyard basketball.

I hate it when idiots call me a retard, you idiot.
Only idiat morans call people names, jerk.

That's it, dammit! I challenge you to a lift off. In a high school gym, in front of all the teenagers. I promise I won't call the cops! Bring it!!!!!1!!!

Who do you think I am? Conan?

I refuse to outlift you, even though I could easily outlift you with my pinkie. You almost had me when you included the teenagers, but then I remembered I'm not Trout.... and I really don't believe you about the cops.
