Following potential 2012 draftees

Do you know who the Jazz have scouted in the past?

They've been in and asked a lot of questions (of Calipari) and evaluated Teague, Jones, MKG, and DLamb.

From what the coaching staff has said, they're not really interested in Jones or Teague .. like Lamb but won't have a relevant pick to get him, but extremely high on MKG. I'd guess they were there to see MKG and Beal today .. but guessing.

I guess Davis is out if the question.

PKM- When I meant character issues I meant his attitude sorry. He just seems like he is always arguing with Calipari and just doesn't seem happy.

And I had no clue Jones improved his 3. Thanks for that

So, I have to re-hash the Darius Miller thing. I, admittedly, haven't hardly seen him at all but if he's as good a shooter as anyone in the draft and an elite athlete with good/great size for the position, what separates Harrison Barnes from him then? I'm not at all being sarcastic, I see Barnes as a very good shooter (spot up, mostly) with V E R Y average athleticism for the next level.

Both are playing elite competition, etc. What makes Barnes, roughly, top 8 and D Miller a late second round?

The fact that Barnes has actually put up numbers against elite competition and D Miller hasn't. Miller would be a good pick for a late 2nd round pick, but any higher would be a bad idea.

I'm talking strictly from a talent standpoint. This is more a theoretical question than "so we should draft Miller over Barnes......right?". If you put both the kids side by side and Miller is as good of a shooter as Barnes and is a better athlete, then what happened along the way? Barnes isn't a defensive stopper nor is he anything but an average rebounder.

I'f I'm choosing, sure, I'm taking Barnes 11/10 times because he's a known commodity......still, the question is valid, no?

Interesting thing on lillard. Was watching Him play the other day and it struck me he would have more assists if his team mates could finish plays.

Yeah, the kid does a good job trying to get teammates involved and distributing to go along with being a hell of a scorer, high motor/intensity and high bball IQ. Thats why I've been high on him all season. Hoping they make the tourney.

While he does do this, one major concern is the level of competition. I see a lot of Big Sky games and well....the teams just really aren't that good.

I've always acknowledged that. That said, all the kid can do is play against the teams scheduled. Thats why I really hope he makes the tourney so we at least get one glimpse at him against real comp, since they'd likely be going against at top 4ish seed at worst.

*(I cant seem to find any real info on when the Big Sky conf tourney in played, am I bad at Google?)*

I"m not sure if he's somebody we would draft, but what are you guys thinking of Moe Harkless from St. Johns? Puts up good numbers although he plays a lot of minutes which makes a difference obviously, very athletic but not that great of a shooter. You think he'll enter the draft?

Thanks, I kept getting to the conf page and it would show the reg season standings but couldn't find this/I'm an idiot.

No problem big guy...I'm hoping Weber wins so they can play good competition. They seem to struggle against Montana though, Montana has a really, really good defensive PG.

I have a hard time believing that the Jazz would pass on PJ3 with the 10th pick in the draft, especially if they are going to take Leonard with the 12th pick.

It makes more sense to draft PJ3 first because Lillard will still be there at 12.

Chad Ford really bothers me sometimes.
Am I missing something? We don't need bigs we need a pg, and shooting. Unless Jones can play on the wing and shoot.

You are not missing anything. According the Ford, the Jazz are going to draft a big and a PG. Would you rather have PJ3 or Leonard from Illinois? That is the discussion I was having.
