Congratulations: Kanter wins ESPN Midseason Rookie Award

Lets look at the history of Rookies that have lead their classes in rebounding, and see how they have turned out.

Disclaimer: There was no website that I could find that compiled these stats, so I had to do this research myself. As a result, I could be wrong on a few players. If so, please let me know
2011: Blake Griffin
2010: Taj Gibson (could be incorrect)
2009: Kevin Love
2008: Al Horford
2007: Paul Millsap....??? Did not know this. Could be incorrect
2006: Danny Granger/Andrew Bogut
2005: Emeka Okafor (Dwight in 2nd place)
2004: Chris Bosh
2003: Amare
2002: Pau Gasol
2001: Kenyon Martin
2000: Elton Brand

From this trend, Enes Kanter has the basement of Taj Gibson, a player who has only been in the league for a couple of years. So really, if Kanter secures the Rookie Rebounding Crown this season, I would say that it is without a doubt a sign of good things to come. Wouldn't trade him for Rondo.

Is this per minute or average? I think Fareid (however it's spelled) from Denver will overtake Enes in RPG because he has been getting extended minutes and playing well.

Never mind, Faried already has Enes out-rebounded on average. 6.6 vs 5.0.

Faried averages 17.8 minutes to Kanter's 14.5 minutes, so I think Kanter still has an edge in rebounds per minute (maybe, too lazy to do math).

Actually, I think Faried has more per minute also (if the ****ty math in my head is right).

Its all per game, Cy. Per minute woulda taken a helluva lot longer to research for 12 draft classes.

Either way, its time for the Menace to rack up some boards. Id hate to have him lose to Faried.

No to Rondo for two reasons:

One, we will lose too much, even with him. Deron's attitude with less talent. No thanks.

Two: without three point shooters, Rondo is a waste. His asset is assists. Who is going to hit those wide open jumpers on this team?

I couldn't care less, at this point .. but those folks that ignore his outstanding scoring, rebounding, and assist numbers, as throw away, because he has a good team, are, well, not worth responding to.

He averages 14 ppg. I wouldn't call that outstanding.......

Again .................... ignoring his total body of work.

Are you just trying to be difficult or do you have something against PG's that avg. awesome numbers in PTS, RBS, and ASTS?

You have some good posts, that I applaud, but it's like you get zoned in on some ridiculous notion .. and own it.

He is not even 1/10 valuable as Rondo. So not it is not absurd. Jazz still would have Millsap, Jefferson and Favors - plenty of bigs but they badly lack is pg of Rondo's level. What you are saying that you think Kanter and whatever PG you will draft at 10-12 pick will turn us into contender but Rondo not? Now this is a true absurd.
Again, you are not understanding what I am saying. Rondo does not make this team a title contender. We don't know how good Kanter can or will be. He at some point could be a very big piece towards becoming a title contender or just a decent piece. When you say he is not a 1/10th as valuable as Rondo you are again arguing from a point of him being unproven and so less valuable. Here's a quick question that you should be able to answer quickly. Does Rajon Rondo make this team a contender? If it took you more than 2 seconds to say no then I must question your intelligence. Question 2.... Could Enes Kanter down the line make us a much better team if not contender? Again, if you took longer than 2 seconds to acknowledge that it's possible then you aren't very intelligent. So what sense would it make to trade Enes Kanter for Rajon Rondo at this point? Also keep in mind that the Celtics would want more than just Kanter.

Well, I mean you clearly said outstanding scoring.

It is. What are elite PG's (that own the assists and rebounds) supposed to score?

I guess around what Rondo does? I'm just saying I wouldn't call it outstanding scoring. It's a misleading adjective. Outstanding would be north of 20.

Okay Cy. I think Rondo is a truly elite PG, you do not. That's cool. I still love ya when you're wrong.

I wouldn't argue that he is one of the best in the game. I just don't see how it would make sense to trade the future and more for him. If you were to tell me we could do it with Al and little else involved then sure. But not for Kanter or Favors. It wouldn't really make sense. When is Rondo going to be a FA? Odds are he wouldn't stay here. Just a guess of course. We'll see what happens.

Both of our rookies this year are studs. I love watchign them play. I want to see someone throw a punch at Kanter. I want to see how he reacts. Hopefully he stuffs them in the hoop.

No, Rondo would not make us contender alone ( with current roster and coach we have) if traded for Kanter right now or next year. But we would become instant playoff team for years and adding somebody like Lamb in draft could make us contenders in 3-4 years. But keeping Kanter ( or anybody on Jazz roster) and hoping to draft or get some free agent PG in Rondo category does not make us contenders either. To much unknown, could be good or could be not.
Rondo is proven All-Star, plays through injuries and has championship experience and is still young and in his prime for 5-7 years at least. That is great window to become contenders if we keep Favors, Burks and add some serious scoring threat at SF like Lamb ( Barnes would be nice to but that is a stretch).
Plus think this way, does this team lacks rebounding and post up play or it badly needs passing, leadership from PG position and defense? Did we lose more when we get kill by bigs or by opposing team PG's?
Your thinking is similar to this - you have a chance to cash in 100.000$ winning lottery ticket and make you life better instantly but you would rather invest it in more lottery tickets in hope of winning 10mil in the future.... odds are you will end up with nothing.

I sometimes wish we trade Kanter just to shut AKMVP up.
