What's new

Jazz will not trade Big Al this season.

Im only down with trading Al if we get Rondo. Right now, I would rather offload Miles, get some playing time for Burks, and maybe get our hands on some youth in this upcoming draft. Maybe even trade Howard for a late first rounder.

I would be upset if we traded Burks.

1. I have grown attached to him
2. Can we really afford to have two UK players? That may result in two UK fan posters. One is all this board can handle.

Okay Bodhi! They do have the nuts to trade an all-star quality player while convinced they will lose him for nothing. You are right, i am wrong, okay? My premise still stands, they will not trade Big Al this year IMO (screw the humble crap)
because the risk to the team (and their jobs) is too great, and they feel they are still in the playoff hunt as qman suggested. Now what can you find to nit pick at? Sheesh, just a small prediction based on my opinion. Am i not allowed that?
Just want to lessen the angst around here if (as i suspect) no trade is forthcoming this season. Circumstances are everything!

Easy tiger, I think you're reading more angst or animosity into my post than what was there. You're prob right about them not trading Al, for what it's worth.

If I were KOC, I'd try and package Al and Millsap together to go for an elite big - that big being Pau. First off, I still think Gasol is the 2nd best big guy in the game, and second this would allow for a 3-headed monster (probably a year away), at the PF/C position with Gasol/Kanter/Favors, instead of a logjam where the young guys aren't getting minutes.

This has got to be one of the worst ideas thrown around on this board in a long freakin' time.

If Jefferson keeps this up, someone might actually give up some real stuff to get him. I'm okay with that. They should trim his minutes some, though. They play him and Millsap like they don't have two of the best bigs off the bench in the league.

Do you think Gasol is better than Al? Do you think Gasol is better than Millsap? My thinking is that if Al and Sap are both 7's (scale from 1-10), I'd trade em for a 9.

all honesty KOC will trade millsap before he trades al. I agree with getting rid of cj to make some room for burks. We will probably get more value from millsap and jefferson in the off season so it would be smart to just wait on the bigs for now and make room for burks!!!

Gasol is just too old for this team. He also makes more money than the Pope. While you're at it get ahold of Pierce too.

Bodhi- Wasn't really referring to you at all, but just the general feeling around this forum about the situation our team is in. Lots of people are looking for a big trade to happen and
i am not sure that's going to happen at all. Or at least during the season. Always, of course a trade can just pop up that would make us better and they might pull the trigger. But
i am having trouble envisioning a scenario that works for us.

Imagine if we keep him this year, he continues to have All-Star numbers, and we actually make the playoffs. Teams may be willing to give up a whole lot for him this off-season.

Quick dream scenario.

We make the playoffs as like a 6th seed. Houston doesn't make the playoffs and ends up with the 13 or 14th pick in the draft. We trade them Jefferson for their pick, a future first, and Kevin Martin. We draft Quincy Miller with our GS Warriors pick, then draft Lillard with the pick from the Rockets.

PG: Harris, Lillard, Watson
SG: Martin (only for a year, or flip him elsewhere later), Burks, Hayward
SF: Hayward, Miller
PF: Millsap, Favors
C: Kanter, Favors

Gasol is 31 years old. Guy's still got 5-6 good years in him. We'd actually save money next year by doing this trade, and then he expires the year after that.

Gasol doesn't have to be the guy (I just think it would be a good idea to go for an "elite" big), but he seems like he is available and I know he's better than both Al and Millsap and will be for the next 5 years.

Have you paid attention to Gasol this year? He's clearly beginning to hit his twilight years. Dude will be 32 this summer, and since it will take at least two years for our young guys to even begin to reach their peak, it makes no sense.
