Loser of Ellis/Bogut's trade - Utah Jazz

Just wanted to share ESPN's John Hollinger take on the trade re-Utah:

3. Sorry, Utah
The big loser here may be the Jazz, as part of Golden State's motivation appears to be an elaborate ruse to avoid ceding a lottery pick to Utah. The timing is bizarre because the Warriors had played themselves into playoff contention, but the Warriors' brass had to view the landscape and see that (a) they were still highly unlikely to make the playoffs and (b) they owed their first-round pick to the Jazz if it didn't fall in the top seven.

At 17-21, Golden State has some work to do to finish in the league's bottom seven teams. (And that wouldn't ensure a top-seven pick, since a team 8th or below could usurp a top-3 spot in the lottery and push them down one.) Detroit is 15-27, just two back in wins but six in losses, and the Warriors also need to "pass" two other Eastern teams to get into the bottom seven.

But between the trade and the upcoming schedule, they may be in position to do so. Jackson is no longer capable of playing big minutes on a decent team (even if his hamstring injury magically heals itself on the flight to Oakland) and Bogut won't be back until April, if at all. If the Warriors are smart they'll encourage him to take his time. With the Warriors running a gauntlet of elite teams in April, they have a great shot at effectively "trading" for a lottery pick with this deal.

The irony, of course, is that the Warriors are tanking even though they have a better record than Milwaukee! Nothing serves as a more glaring example of the difference between East and West -- the Bucks can load up for a playoff run at 18-24, while a 17-21 Warrior team is playing for next year.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

Deep draft and we probably will only have the 14th pick in the draft.

Im so excited.

This franchise is going places

+100

What's better?

Young guys getting reps + adding a top 5 pick

or

Young guys sit and watch a group of guys play who will not be here in two years + the 14th pick in the draft

Jerks.

I am beginning to wonder if Golden State created that pick trade full well knowing they would not have to deliver. Oh well, even if it was just Kanter, Favors, Harris, and two second round picks, the Jazz still win in the trade because Deron was not re-signing with the Jazz, I'd bet money on it.

There is hope with this GS pick though. Maybe it will be addition by subtraction. Maybe GS will play better as a team without Ellis

I think that they will win moremthan they want to. We will get this pick. They have enough talent to win more than the likes of bobcats, no, sac, Nj, tor, det, cle. I

Somebody better tell the Warrior "scrubs" they're supposed to start tanking. Without Ellis, without Curry, without Udoh, they just pounded Sacramento. Six players in double figures. Hmmm...perhaps they're better off without one player gettin his number called so much. Ty, KOC...are you listening?

Good.

I want Myck Kabongo in 2013 anyway. Hopefully he falls to 7 or better, at least. :d

I knew they had an incentive to "tank" if they get close to the #7 spot near the end. That's why I wanted GSW to get as many wins as they could as a "buffer" (with disagreement from Numerica - who for some weird reason wanted GSW to keep losing).

But honestly though I didn't expect them to suddenly do this. They can now "rest" Curry and Bogut to "tank".

I honestly think they will be better. If your star player can't shoot over 45% and he dominates the ball than.......... that player is making your team worse.

This will be addition by subtraction. Wright, Thompson & Rush are all above average 3 point shooters. Even Nate Robinson & Stephen Jackson are a threat some nights.

The ball will move around more and David Lee will get more touches which he deserves.

Jazz will get there pick this year.

We aren't getting the pick. They will find a way to tank it. It will be close at the end and mark Jackson will be instructed to sit players.

Me quickly after the trade

Me after GSW's team effort against Sacto.

GSW's GM and owner don't look too happy that they beat the Kings:

#NotGoingToPlan ??

If Monta played for the jazz, you would all hate him. The guy has skills, but is a terrible black hole. (not that theres anything wrong with that)

They will finish with the 7th worst record and the Jazz will leapfrog them with our pick and they will end up giving us the 8th pick.....
