Following potential 2012 draftees

guys it looks like there will be no NBA prospeckt for the JAZZ.

GS is tanking, and we're on the track to make playoffs

bad news for us. this team won't make championship.

We are still 9th right now. All the teams ahead of us are pretty good so actually I think it is a good chance we will finish 9th. Teams below GS right now also may do things to ensure losses so dont count our draft picks out yet.

So can we get a list of guys that we should be looking at in the lottery or mid first round? (Yes I know that we might not get a single pick)

Rivers
White
Jones X2
Miller

My mind has gone blank. Who else am I missing?

Cody Zeller or bust.

A snipet from Fords Insider article regarding Rivers declaration.

Rivers has clearly modeled his game, demeanor, everything after Kobe Bryant. He has a ton of NBA moves in his arsenal and has the attitude. The problem is that Rivers is no Kobe.

Kobe was an all-world explosive athlete, which allows him to do things that Rivers tries to do but isn't nearly as successful at. Scouts expect Rivers' lack of explosive athletic ability will become even more apparent at the next level.

For Rivers to have a really successful NBA career, he's going to have to drop the Kobe act and become a better shooter and really work on that floater. If he does that, he'll be really effective. But I'm not sure he knows what he is, and that has been, time and time again, a problem for players as they make the leap to the next level.

One more quote for the interest of this board

You can expect he'll go somewhere between 10 and 20 on draft night. Expect teams like the Cavs, Jazz, Blazers, Nets and Rockets to give him a long look.

I saw today on ESPN Doug Gottlieb was talking about how Rivers thinks he is Dwyane Wade, but isn't close. Said that players on the Duke team didn't really like him because of the way he played and that college just wasn't the place for his style of game.

Seriously? Verlin just linked a story but it was Kobe that Rivers has 'modeled' his game after .. which makes more sense than Wade. Assuming you meant Kobe?

No, Gottlieb clearly said he (Rivers that is) thinks he is Wade (specifically talked about not coming off screens and being too ball dominant) without the athletic or finishing ability. I think he was just trying to say Rivers thinks he is a star, but he is far from.

Is Elton Brand a fair comparison for Sullinger?

I see some similarities offensively. Brand had that freak wingspan though which made everything so easy for him. He averaged 20/10/2 in his prime which I consider out of Sullinger's capability even if you drop the blocks.

Baylor players who could go 2nd round: Heslip, Jackson, Acy

Qunicy Miller looks more active to me today. The Baylor offense just doesn't feature him enough. He looks okay defensively, much more involved than PJ3. He needs to get stronger and fully recover from his injury, but I still like him as a pick for the Jazz. It also looks like he's changing the form of his jump shot a bit.
