Oh .. and to clarify my statement regarding QMiller and 'we' not being patient ..
I said it very poorly, but meant to suggest that we (the fans) are not known for being patient with players that are giving less than 100%. Myself included. Maybe I'm wrong (likely, actually), but I think the Jazz organization's persona is one of muscle, hard work, determination, brute over finesse .. think Sloan. I feel we see ourselves that way as much as any other franchise.

HUH? So Miller can go against Durant, to make it so we aren't completely out matched? Quincy Miller, you feel, would be better against Durant than Hayward, whom we currently have?
Sometimes I feel like 20% of the posters bring the prospective players names in here and actually watch the players in question, and the rest read DX and the hype begins. How many have watched Quincy Miller basically fall asleep on the court? *raises hand*. I'll give you that the kid has talent, but near Durant levels (to semi quote PKM) is absurd. Quincy Miller has roughly average/a hair above, at best, athleticism, doesn't really do one thing extremely well offensively, doesn't get to the line very often, vanilla defender and completely disappears for games at a time (for reference, see the Big12 conf tourney and the NCAA version).
I cannot understand the love affair with this kid. If I'm drafting purely on who COULD be a beast in this class, but hasn't fully shown it, I'm going PJ3 every time over Miller. Maybe I'll be wrong but I doubt it.
I wasn't a big Barnes fan before the article and now I don't even want him on the Jazz. I have enjoyed this thread (all 311 pages and counting) but there is a high possibility that the Jazz might not have any draft picks. LOL.
My guys are MKG, Beal, Jones(III), Mitchell, Marshall, Lillard, Rivers and White. I have pretty much given up on Miller but if the Jazz drafted him I wouldn't be too disappointed. I would love Davis not going to happen. Sullinger is a nice player but he is not a need on the Jazz. In the second round I like D. Miller or Lamb.

Renardo Sidney declared for the draft. Not saying we should draft him in the 1st round, but if we can somehow whip him into shape, he would be worth taking a 2nd round chance on. Cut him if he can't improve his conditioning when the season starts.
That is what I was thinking. The guy is built like a twig, so I don't see how he is any better built than Hayward to guard power 3's. The one thing I'm sure he has on him is length, but that is it. He seems laterally slower (could be the ACL recovery).
Also, I have a watched a good amount of Baylor game, probably around 10 on the year. I think both sides are right. He does seem to passive, but the offense also seemed to be against him. I always got the feeling him and Perry Jones were probably the worst teammates for each other, seemed to get in each others way offensively.
Oh man .. what a dilemma. Sidney has so much talent, but has been such HUGE (pun intended) disappointment. He could have been the best player in the nation (no hyperbole), but chose Big Macs over the gym. I MIGHT take a chance on him, but .. well maybe I wouldn't. Most probably don't realize that before Renardo became obese, he was very close to a 6'9 PG .. kidz got skillz, somewhere under there.
From what I have seen about QMiller, I haven't been super impressed with his athleticism. I thought it might be from his ACL recovery, but watching older videos of him it still appears he is pretty deliberate in his movements and lacks lateral quickness. He also appears to only elevate off two feet, and plays very below the rim when taking off on one foot. His ability to post up a bit as well as his decent shooting and length still make him an interesting prospect though.
You're asking if Quincy Miller, a 6' 9" SF with a 7' 4" wingspan, is more able to matchup physically with Kevin Durant than a guy that's 6' 8" in shoes, and with a 6' 8" wingspan?
Miller certainly has the higher upside .. he'll just need to add a massive amount of strength.
For the record, I watched one Baylor game this year (since college basketball is mind-numbing to watch), and Baylor's offense consisted of zero to two passes, wings either not touching the ball or just being swung to in order to enter the ball into the post, and almost every shot that wasn't Quincy Acy's was not good. Maybe Miller has a chucking problem, but I don't think him hardly even touching the ball helps with that.
Again, the Jazz might be pretty well set as it is. You don't often get a chance at all-world talent. I think this culture of toughness, team ball, and camaraderie that the Jazz have going on - especially with a good PG - could change the entire discussion on the kid.

If he can't play defense his size is nearly irrelevant.

Just because someone has better physical traits doesn't mean they are better equipped to handle Durant or Labron. I've only seen Q. Miller play 3 times, but in my opinion he doesn't seem to have the it factor or the drive to even think about guarding a guy like Durant, and Miller doesn't seem to have much of a motor to go all out.
Hayward is the most underrated player on this team. It bothers me when I hear someone say Hayward is over matched. Poor Hayward no matter what he does and shows us on the court, can't get any credit. What more does he need to do to prove he isn't a defensive liability! He has never been or looked overwhelmed playing against anyone. How quick everyone forgets how foolish he made Kobe look as a rookie. Kobe is regarded as on of the best closer's in the history of the NBA, and Kobe couldn't even get his shot off. He's one of the best defenders on the team, has a high motor good intangibles, and most important he competes at a high level every second of every game and isn't ever scared of any matchup. It's time to give Hayward his due and realize this is only his second year, he will only get stronger and better.
I've said this since the end of last year, but Hayward will be a stud at both ends of the court. I'm sorry but Q. Miller doesn't have what Haywards got.
I think it has less to do with people think Hayward is outmatched more than their idea that Hayward is a 2-Guard and they don't want to ruin that notion by bringing in another 2 guard.

314 pages and I'm yet to see anything on Brittney Griner. PKM, what do you think of him? Of the forwards on Baylor, I'd have him ahead of Miller, but behind PJIII.
