What's new

It's a no-no...

I like him just fine. I think he tries to portray a persona on here that is not really him. Only two people on here annoy me and they are on ignore.

Edit: His personal life not being my business has nothing to do with liking or not liking him.

honestly, I write what I write, and I'm not trying to be something.
I really think you misunderstood most of what I wrote in this thread, and you made a lot of assumptions that were just not even close.

I made assumptions on what you provided. I never pumped you for more. The details you gave showed you as unprofessional. If that is not the way it was then why did you not tell it the way it was. No matter. I am comfortable with my posts.

Actually, I should say that it wasn't the company that dismissed me, it was the chick who interviewed me. She is the only one who talked to me and she made the decision.
HR people...it's their job to disqualify candidates. Have you ever spent time around HR people? I have, and just about everytime, they are morons who want to do as little as possible in their jobs. THey also love to disqualify candidates.

and she was being a woman (ok, this will get me some hate, but oh well)
Trust me, this happens a lot in my field. My field is male-dominated. Women in it tend to feel intimidated. So when a woman gets in a position of some power or influence, they tend to overdo it. I understand somewhat where they are coming from...but I think they don't need to overreact as much as they do.

I've had woman managers and they want to show that they can be tough and prove to everyone that they can do it. They over-manage and they just don't need to.

Now this woman that interviewed me...she showed some great woman logic.
Like a girlfriend who says "Tell me about your dating history" So you do, and what happens? She gets mad at you for talking about your past gf's. You say "But you asked me!" Doesn't matter. She got jealous and you are just screwed.

So this lady asks me a bunch of questions about my past experieinces with co-workers and managers. All of her questions were about that. I gave good answers, but she says "He talks about conflict too much. That's negative"

Ok. If you didn't want me to talk about conflicts, then don't ask.

uh, you changed your tune when you realized the whole story about the car interview.

Trust me dude, I know what I am doing. All of your assumptions were off.
Have you ever tried to get a software engineering job? I have.

You sound like the teacher of that employment class I took a few years ago. I didnt want to bother with it, but I went because a bunch of friends told me how helpful it would be. Well it was all so useless. A complete waste of time. It was probably good for people with no experience in looking for a job. But for a seasoned vet like me, it was like going back to high school.

It was silly. She had nothing to offer me. She knew nothing about my field. It was a waste of time.
And guess what, I got a great job soon after, and I did not use any of the techniques that she taught.
I went in to that company and told them what they needed to do to solve their problem and how I would do it. They said I was by far the best candidate that they had. Then I had to interview with the company president, who is extremely intelligent and loves to grill new people, so much that they warned me about it, and said it would be tough and that many good candidates can't handle it and don't get hired because of it.
I went in there and aced it. I actually had a great time with the guy.
They hired me and I did so well, they told me I was the best consultant they ever had, and now they are trying to think of a position for me so they can have me back.

I just wanted to quote this for the lulz.

Not to interrupt the pile-on, but I have interviewed for jobs and then turned down an offer. It happens.

Oh I know it happens. Just Craig is playing off that they didn't want him and his unprofessionalism in his interview as ok because he did not want to work for them. I call BS on that.

Yeah, like when you ask a girl out and she laughs, then you go around calling her a dirty skank who you wouldn't touch with another man's hands.

Who told you!...I mean she lied. I never asked that dirty skank out. Honest.

I have never heard that saying, sounds kinky.

I've always said who you wouldn't touch with a 10' pole.

I'm pretty sure I've heard that a few times. That 10' pole line is more used up than a dirty skank.

But he didn't even want the job, which is why he's so PO-ed! Duh.

Exactly! Didn't even want the job but yet took the time to do the interview out of respect but then yet tells us how idiotic that company and interviewer were. Makes complete sense.

I have only worked for three women in my career. One was not very detail-oriented or tech savy, but was a fabulous listener and a great leader as long as she surrounded herself with good detail oriented people. The other two however, fit your stereotype to a T and were the worst bosses I've ever had BY FAR.

I have a female boss and she is one of the best managers I have ever had. You guys didnt have bad managers becasue they were female. You had bad managers because they were bad managers.
