What's new

Is it really that far fetched to see D will in Jazz uni again?

Derron William. dont need em. tinsley has looked better then dwill this season....

dwill just never knew what he had until he was sent to the pitts of hell. LOL

The Lakers and the Mavs will have to start dropping guys to even offer deron a deal!

The Mavs can outright sign Deron to a max deal cause Odom, Carter, & Wright's contracts (13+M) aren't guaranteed.

No thanks, he's got that bad temperament which just ruins team chemistry.
I like how we're rebuilding this team as a humble-together-Christian based team without 1 big star that'll dictate terms.
Look at the Knicks - they have 2 big stars and they're still struggling to qualify for playoffs.

From what I remembered, didn't DWill pick up Christianity while on the Jazz? But I do think his ego would outweigh winning w/ Utah's core!
Also, from what I'm hearing... it seems like DWill has a lot of pull from their front office & no way will KOC/Millers give him that kind of power.

When my buddy and I played craps with D-Will at the Lake Tahoe celebrity golf tournament we talked about Utah. At first we talked about Utah State University and he asked us if it was the University in Orem which was kind of funny. I told him that Utah missed him and Deron responded "Yeah, you're not the only one."
We weren't sure what that meant but a little later my friend said that Utah kind of sucks (he's from california) and Deron was like "Really? I actually like Utah".

In real life Deron Williams is actually pretty cool and didn't seem like a diva or anything in my chance to chat with him.

So no lie, I think he actually means it when he says he enjoyed his time here. Here's a photo of Deron with my friend to verify my story.

Part of the reason I respect Deron is because he used to be a semi-regular customer at my store when I worked for Blockbuster Video. He was always really cool and would chat with the employees, provided there weren't a half dozen other customers in the store eyeballing him and asking for autographs. As employees, we never bothered him with asking for autographs or talking to him about basketball so I imagine that might be the reason he started being so friendly to us.

It's been pretty well publicized that Deron's wife and kids liked Utah. He certainly may comments in my interactions with him that led me to believe that his family liked it here.

Of course, my interactions with him also revealed that he doesn't like Mark Wahlberg very much.

I don't think this will ever be a question of whether or not Deron would ever want to return to Utah. I think that the most apprehension would come from the front office, coaches, and fans.

If Utah were able to sign Deron to a max-contract this offseason - the Deron-NJ trade would be one of the biggest steals in the history of the NBA that doesn't involve the Lakers. I would do the previously mentioned roster maneuverings and offer Deron a max 10 times out of 10.

Do I think Kevin O'Connor and Deron would both consider trying to bring him back to Utah? No - I think Deron will either resign with NJ - (imo Dwight's #1 option is still to end up in Brooklyn with Deron, he just can't find a way to do so gracefully) or Dallas with the idea that Dallas could potentially lure a 2nd-max player to form their own Big-3. As attractive as Utah could be with its familarity and young talent, I think Deron realizes this is the prime of his career and he wants to spend it where he can win - and subsequently cash in on that winning as much as he can in a bigger market.

For those of you that think KOC wouldn't sign Deron because he wouldn't want to offend other GM's, you are crazy. Look at Cliff Lee and the Philadelphia Phillies. If Deron were to come back to Utah, nobody would care.

Jazz were 27-13 when the team hit a rough patch on the road. And Williams just quit on the team and Sloan.

I agree with that premise, however, people quickly forget that Williams was one of if not the primary catalyst to this 27-13 record in the first place, even earning NBA player of the month honors during that span averaging 22 pts and 10 ast on 46%fg/37%3pt/86%ft to go along with 2 game winners.

Talent in today's NBA inevitably comes with diva attitude it seems. He knows and thrives in this system and would make this team a contender instantly. I'd do it in a heart beat.

I really believe he did like it here. He openly talks about Utah fans as being better fans than the nets.

I remember well the interview with him that was shown during halftime of our next game and he darn near looked like he was getting ready to shed a tear. You could clearly tell he was hurt and shocked by what just happened. And he was completely professional on his way out.

Some of you people over exaggerate how much of a cancer he was. Before it was called his hunger and fire. And back then he was the best point guard in the league. And now suddenly people are questioning if he is even a max player or if he us even a top 5 pg. Give me a break. How soon you forget. And how you show your little basketball IQ. Deron freaking Williams is still a bad ***. He still is a top 10 player in this league. And still one of the smartest players in the league. He is exactly what we need. Yes, you sign him and you sign him to a max. And you pay that luxury tax every year you have too. Because we would have a chance to win a championship.

And who the freak cares what the league thinks of you. The league, media, and players have been giving the Jazz the shaft for all these years. From referees stealing championships from you to players refusing to play here. Jazz didn't do anything wrong. It would be a cold move to do it.

And I agree with Verlin that Dwill is coming back to save us. Verlin has guaranteed it. I believe in what he is saying.

The narrative will be - and already is - that Billy King and the Nets organization are out of their god damn minds.

Calling Deron a "cancer" is such hyperbole. Stubborn, competitive to a fault maybe, but not a cancer.

If Deron comes back, the Jazz are saving him just as much (or more) as he'd be saving the Jazz. That's exactly how it's supposed to work.

*sigh* .. just like Rondo .. fairly similar. I hate all the ***** willows that can't handle those that expect more .. that expect to win.

Good point.

Williams is a chucker in any other offense than ours. He needs structure, screens, moving parts, the threat of making open passes to cutters as much as the threat to drive or pull up.

That is what made him lethal, and I'd bet he knows it.

He also needs options, not a bunch of cobbled together veterans in an absolute pot of piss of a situation.

You guys should put ur money where ur mouth is.
How about a friendly wager? Loser leaves this forum forever, no coming back under different alias either, mod will permaban our IP.
If Deron Williams signs with the Jazz this off-season, I leave. If he doesn't, both of you leave.
Deal? I'm down. You guys are probably too chicken though and don't really believe the BS you spew.

He would be the oldest starter on the jazz -- assuming that the 4 become starters -- and he is 27.

not only that but the lowest draft pick we'd have in the starting lineup would be Hayward (12), compared to dwill's Utah teams of 2nd rounders.

What the **** are you talking about? I have a different wager, you admit the obvious and tell us you're not a jazz fan and you **** off forever. Winner is everyone.

I think his salary requirements will be more of a block than any burned bridges. Dallas and NJ will throw him the max and with his years in the NBA it will probably start around 20 million a year.

btw i decline ur wager since i do not win in any of the possible scenarios and would be forced to lie but i appreciate ur offer friend.
