Game thread Utah v. Portland. 8pm MST.

Wow!! The jazz needed that win, and it was on the road, just huge. When Sap let's the game come to him and is patient he is an absolute assassin out on the court. It's when he forces it too much is when he gets in trouble. Good game by Millsap!

Looks like Millsap at SF worked out? I couldn't catch the game.

In all seriousness Tinsley's steal at the end of the game was one of the most impressive play's I've seen all season. When they showed the replay, even though I knew it was coming I was still amazed he was able to get to the ball.

playing him at the 3 allowed him to get to different spots on the floor, cut down the middle, work the baseline from the corner, post smaller players. He brings a hell of a lot more than Carroll or CJ at that spot.

Millsap at SF? Burks in at clutch-time?

Corbz gets a decent coaching grade from me today.

Millsap doesn't takefouling very well. If the refs nail him for two early fouls, he starts to sulk and then his game starts to suck. If he doesn't sulk, his game is usually pretty damn good.

So which comes first -- the sulk or the suck?

Well....

Can Sap play the 3? Yes. He can get open and shoot off curls. I believe this was universally believed to be what he couldn't do aside from defend 3s. His matchup did not go off during that time either. I'd just about been convinced that what he was better at made him just a great PF. Sap had better be on this team in 2 years.

It's funny how Burks continues to shoot so poorly and impress me so much but it must be the hustle. He made a play at the end of the 3rd stealing away a board and then making a savvy fake to get himself to the line. These plays will always make Jazz fans forget how bad he shoots. I think we all know that will come.

Corbin made many unusual moves. Tinsley to the starter/closer spot over Watson. Sap at the 3 for extended time let alone doing it at all. CJ basically no 2nd half. Closing with Burks.

Something happened to Watson. I don't know what but he is not the player I saw 2 months ago. Corbin closing with the other guy says a lot.

Again, I cannot fathom having that much money and not fixing your teeth. Seriously.

I wasn't super happy with jeffy's game but it is worth noting that he, sap and favors all ended up with a double double today. Has that happened yet this season?

Here's an interesting stat.....

Al. 10 reb.

Millsap. 11 reb.

Favors. 11 reb.

And loved Favors post defense on aldridge. Even thought Al played good defense, although his man is not exactly an offensive juggernaut, but I did see the effort from him.

I have to say that right before the game, I was depressed with the notion of Corbin doing the exact same thing, and it started out that way. He did quite a few things that were pleasantly surprising, like Millsap at the 3, where he dominated at times and he even did a situational sub with Favors, where Favors got the offensive rebound for two points. I hope we see more of this! It also allowed us to have Favors in for big minutes.

I'm with you re Watson. He has gone from fan favorite to whipping boy. And yes, he is not himself. I was just looking at Tinsley's career stats and they are pretty rough. His assist are ok, but dude has shot several entire seasons under 40%! Kudos to the Jazz for taking a chance on him. He was the difference down the stretch imo.

I am finding that few players come back from injury at the level they were prior (right off the bat). It takes time. Tough for players and coaches alike.

Did Miles even sniff the court in the second half? I don't think he played the entire second half. No wonder we didn't lose.

CJ's facial experssion when he was giving guys high fives after the win was pricless. It was as though me just found out that somebody ran over his puppy.

Is Locke a super homer of Favors?

Look:

"Favors is an elite defensive player. He will be one of the 5 best defensive players in the NBA, if he isn’t close already"
-Locke

I wouldn't be surprised if he ever gets to top 5, but is he really close already?

Couldn't see this game. Must say the minutes distribution were interesting.

Is Harris injured? Does this game finally get Tinsley minutes over Watson? Is Millsap going to play more at the 3?
