Forget the poll - Jazz just DID sign Raja Bell

i think we are done making moves now. this is a pretty solid lineup we got going. we lose a little bit on 3pt shooting but we are definately better on defense now. definately top 4 team in the west. KOC, well done reconstructing the jazz after booz+matthews+korver's departure. the only concerning spot is the backup pg spot now.

PF:millsap-ak
SF:miles-ak
SG:bell-hayward
PG:deron-price

i like it!

Age and coming off injury is a mild concern, but I am willing to take a chance on Bell for less than half of what we would be paying Mathews. I think the Jazz figure they can trade him to some team for cap space in his 3rd year if he starts dropping off badly. And at just 3 mil/yr, he should be easily tradeable.
Overall, a very decent pickup.

The biggest concern for the Jazz going forward this season has to be health. Except for backup PG, I think we are more or less set at all spots, assuming we sign Fess/Gaines/Evans. Now if only everyone could stay healthy...

Yeah, Price does not instill confidence in me either. Gains flat out sucks. Is there a decnt PG available for cheap that's left who can compete with Price?

Price is a viable backup because he *kinda* tries to play within the system.
Except for those time where he completely loses track of who he defenses due to screen which happened about six times during the playoffs.

I was saying that I wanted to snatch Raja Bell back years ago. Only reason I'm leery now is that he's 34, and the guy was never all that fast for a 2 in the first place. However, for the price, I'm plenty happy. I thought we might be stuck matching the Matthews offer.... this is smarter financially and he's a better play NOW who has experience in the system. And we have... OMG... a defensive stopper. Finally.

It think this a great pickup for Utah. Ditching Korver for Bell, assuming he has something left in the tank is a solid win in my book. Korver is a sharpshooter from beyond the arc but he doesn't even look like he belongs in the NBA in several areas including passing and ball handling. We didn't looks much from beyond the arc, the offense should run smoother, and defensively Bell is one of the best in the business. The Jazz got a lot tougher and better defensively this offseason. I think this team can contend for a championship.

It must make him feel so nice, after Kobe meeting with him, to tell the Lakers. "No, I'll be playing with Jerry Sloan next season."

I like it purely for the "**** you Lakers" factor, more than anything.

Normally I wouldn't agree with this, but it's hard not to when it's the Lakers. Saweeet!! :D

WOW did not see this coming AT ALL!

I'm not sure how I feel about this yet....

I doubt any of us did. I'm just excited the Jazz finally brought in a veteran. I've been wanting the Jazz to mix it up, in the age department, for years now. Plus, I love how mad Bell gets when he gets beat. His competitiveness rivals Stockton. He'll fire up our defense for sure!

Plus, whoever he guards in practice will get better and better over the course of the year.
