Last night, "Hayward became only the 2nd shooting guard in franchise history to score at least 20 pts and grab 10 rebs, joining Jazz great Darrell Griffith" - VSlice02

Hayward has also been showing the ability to do this on a more regular basis as well.

in 7 of his last 10 games he has grabbed 7 or more rebounds.

in 8 of his last 10 games he has scored 14 or more points, including 5 in a row.

Averaging his stats from the last 10 games we see
16.2 ppg
6.2 rebs
3.3 ast

45% fg
39% 3pt
80% ft

Is the sort of play we should expect consistently next season, or is he playing above his ability right now?

I see a pattern forming. What in gods name can be done so Groundhog Day doesn't happen again at the start of next season and we see G Time looking scared of his own shadow and passive again? If he could put a whole season together like he plays at the end of the last 2 he'd be one of the best wings in the league.

We can only hope. He should be able to though.

One thing that gives me more hope this time around is he is much more consistent this time around. He is producing every game since he stepped up his game. The lowest he has scored is 14 over the last two weeks.

He's established himself as one of our most important players. No way can Corbin bench him again for Bell or Howard. Right?

I am 100% confident that Gordon will become a consistent 18/5/4 guy. He is proving to be the cornerstone of our future.

Maybe I should put this in the game thread but how does it speak for our big men that Hayward was the leading rebounder against a Suns team that doesn't rebound. But to bring this back on topic, that does show highly of Hayward that at least he stepped up and picked up the slack.

I just like his defense. Nobody here thought he would be as good on the deffensive side of the ball. i perdict he will be the next Jazz All-Star!

Adrian Dantley was not a shooting guard. I just love watching the way Hayward has been playing. His confidence and aggressiveness are right were they need to be. I think he is going to be a special player for the team for years.

I could be wrong, but I think I'm the first to say Hayward would be an All-star. Last nights performance by Hayward Confirms to me we don't need any more high draft picks Hayward needs to get some playoff experience. I agree that Hayward will be our first All-star, and Favors will soon follow. We need to build around those two. We need a pg in the mold of Marshall and one or two players that can spread the floor. Burks is the slasher get to the line guy. I don't see stardom in his future, but the perfect player to put with Hayward and Favors.

Thats what I thought. re: Dantley
Hayward is not really a shooting guard now either....
How many times have SFs done 20 10 for the Jazz?

It's good to see somebody on the team putting together some nice games though.

Hayward's outdone himself. 20 and 10 is elite for a SG.
I hope he continues this, cause I have him being the best of the Four.

I don't see Hayward regressing to start next season. If you look at the circumstances heading into this season, the slow start is somewhat understandable. First of all, he didn't start to come on until really late in his rookie year. IMO he was just starting his ascent as soon as the season ended. Then, he's hit with a lockout that stops him from working out with his team, getting more comfortable with his new coach, etc. Thanks to the condensed season, everybody on this Jazz team has had to try and get better without having almost any practice time to speak of.
