Jazzfanz and Jazz fans

I'll admit that most people here are hard Jazz fans. Personally, there is almost nothing better than watching the Jazz play, develop, win, and defeat big-market teams. However, these forums have created a politics of jazz, rather than pure fandom and discussion. I want the GS pick, and I want to draft someone game-changing, but rooting for the jazz to lose...? I would never do that. Even if we don't make the playoffs, don't you want to see the Jazz players do well? On a night we are getting crushed, seeing Hayward or Kanter or Burks or Favors play well and show a spark keeps me watching. These forums have created a politics of what Jazz fans (heck, all NBA fans) should not be - pro-tankers, "Rep" whoring, and probably the most pessimistic and harsh critics of the jazz i have ever seen. Any thoughts? Btw most the discussion I see on here is thought provoking and grammatically correct, better than what you can say about most the internet. Sure, Tyrone should be playin the young ones, and Big Al might shoot a lot, but lets be a fan base rather then a HERRR DERR JAZZ SUCK base. This might have come off harsher than I expected, so I apologize. Much love to you guys.

I agree. This thing should fold into the black hole that started out as blackdoorman, heavenlyharris and booman posts. No discussion. Nada.

I don't advocate tanking but losing one game is tanking how?

What I want to see in the game against gsw is 20 min from Evans. I want Carroll to play 15 to 20 min. I want burks to play 25 to 30. I want kanter to get 25 to 30. If that leads to a win so be it. If the lose we give some young guys valuable playing time.

Personally, yes, I do hope the Jazz lose certain games, such as the the game against GS on Friday, but it's all with the belief that losing this ONE, SIMPLE GAME could help us win very big in the future. I want a championship, not a middle of the pack playoff team like we have become so used to, and when I look at the 2012 draft, I see the opportunity to get over that hump from pretender to contender. Yes, we have a very talented young core, but honestly, I think this group, once they're developed, can get us back to that stage of a "very good team", but I don't think they'll get us to the Finals, or bring home any rings. But if we take this young core and add one or two more pieces from this extremely deep draft, I think we can get over that hump from good to great. When I hope we lose Friday, I'll be doing so because I believe that I have the realistic, honest perspective to see what it takes to win a title, instead of just looking at the game at hand. I'm rooting for my team to win it all, not to just beat the Warriors.

How about this? How about we all cheer on the Jazz and send positive vibes for them to win all the rest of their games and to make the playoffs, THEN—for all you college basketball/draft fans out there who are amazing at discovering talent in the college ranks and for all of you who KNOW with 100% accuracy that every player in this upcoming draft will be All-Star, no Superstar, no MJ-status—maybe, KOC trades Al or some other old vet for some picks in the draft?

Jazz make the playoffs...you guys get your sexy draft picks that get you all hot and bothered, and everyone wins, right?

If the Jazz beat the Warriors the likelihood of getting their pick diminishes considerably. And if the Jazz lose then they are in a kind of deep hole that would be hard to get out of.

I'd be very happy with that, but do I really have to point out that it's easier said than done?

And no one claims to know with 100% accuracy whether or not someone will be good or bad. But when you look at the 2012 draft compared to others, your chances of getting a near All-Star at the end of the lottery are leaps and bounds ahead of the average draft. Now is the time to stockpile talent.

Completely agree. For some reason people think we are going to find the the next Kevin Durant with the 8th pick

When the **** did anyone say that? We think we could find the missing piece to our young core, yes, but no one has ever said we're getting the face of the franchise with that pick.

Number 1, chill

Number 2, cmon everyone secretly hopes that this lottery pick will lead us to a championship, even me.

haha not really, I'm sorry if you misunderstood. I will root for the Jazz no matter what to win games and always hope our guys have a good time playing for the jazz. But if we get the pick I hope its a good one!

Noooooooo. Nope. No way. Can't do it.

You can only go one way. This isn't your sex life.

Either you want the playoffs or you want the draft. You can't be happy both ways.

So what does it matter whether posters want Jazz to tank, push for the playoffs, or whatever. They are just opinions that have no influence on the outcome. So what's the big deal? I get tired of people here telling others what their opinions should be in order to be the mythical "pure" Jazz fan. Fans come in all forms with all kinds of ways of looking at things. If the opinions had any effect then maybe they'd be important but as they are they're just harmless opinions put out there for fun and discussion.

All I ever hear from the tank brigade is how there's no sence in making the playoffs because we will just get swept becaues we dont have a star like Durant or a Kobe. I was more or less generalizing, but we all know their are some that think that, or willing to give up the playoffs at the slimest chance the 8th or 14th pick will land us a superstar, which isn't going to happen most likely.

Respectfully, I have never seen that said .. though I'm sure it has (what hasn't?). I think it's a matter of not having a PG of the future or a very good SF .. not that we're missing a franchise player. Players in this lottery can possibly fill BOTH of those spots .. rather than making the playoffs and getting ousted early .. repeat.
