Following potential 2012 draftees

Out of the range we are looking at 8-14 - who would you say has the most leadership potential? Or the best mix of bball ability and leadership? Seems what this team is lacking. The guy that can rally the team and lead the way every game.

Marshall. MKG.

I guess you missed my post about Rivers that is on the previous page.

I'm not sold on Rivers just yet. He has the mental game, but he's only 6'4" with slightly above-average athleticism. Is he really different or better than Burks ?

I did miss it. But I'm talking more about leading the team, not so much taking over a game. Someone who can rally this young Jazz team - is both a vocal leader and one who leads by example. Alpha dog I guess.

Catchall mentioned in today's game thread that the Jazz still lack a player that can take over the game. I can only see a few players from this draft that "could" have that ability. I would say that MKG, Robinson and Rivers are the only players that can take over a game for about a 5 minute stretch. MKG and Robinson will not be around when the Jazz draft so it leaves an obvious choice, Rivers. Like it or not he has that "it" factor that you love on a player that is on your team or you would personally stab him yourself if he plays for the opposing team (Maybe that is taking it too far).

I like Lillard, I like Marshall but the Jazz don't need to have a traditional PG in order to get to the next level. They need someone who is fearless, wanting to take the tough shot and has a desire that is contagious to the rest of the team. Who best fits that description in this upcoming draft?

on the first part of your post I think Hayward and Favors collectively will take over games in a couple years, right now they are very young, and trying to still figure things out, also put Burks in that mix, he's also very young.

I like your second point, and am worming up to the idea of keeping Harris, he's starting to show some of that All-star form. Both Burks and Hayward can handle some of the pg duties.

Rivers and Marshall are two of the best leaders in this draft, and both happen to be in our range. If we have two picks, I could see us getting both of them actually.

I have the same concern about Rivers' athleticism as you do. What has me convinced is his shooting ability as well as his willingness to be that guy. Parker doesn't have elite athleticism either but look at what he has been able to do in this league. Rivers can carve out teams and when they sag off of him he can be an effective shooter.

Beal could, sure. Sullinger does seem like a Jazz pick .. ugh.

I see Sullinger putting numbers on bad teams. He will be able to rebound and his jumper is pretty good. Maybe he can become a homeless man's Kevin Love.

Marshall has the best chance of coming in and being recognized as a young team leader, IMO. Everyone knows I love Lillard but I recognize what Marshall can bring, and I like it.

Kemba Walker had 'it' too, but can he pull it off at the NBA level?

Kemba has no talent on his team. Henderson, Mullins, BB, Tyrus Thomas and the list goes on. If Kemba was on the Jazz this year and he got consistent minutes I could honestly see him being a dangerous weapon.
