Following potential 2012 draftees

Beal and Rivers are completely in how they get there but fairly similar .. I just love how Rivers will NOT be denied.

Most would take Beal. More complete player.

I've only seen him play in the tournament, but it was enough to sell me on him. I thought his game looked like E. Gordon, and seems like a safe pick to me. I'm hoping his size scares teams away. I've said before I can see Him, Burks, and Hayward playing at the same time.

Beal will be long gone by 8 or 9. DX has him at 5, Ford at 3. And I don't see KOC trading up for a position we have two young capable players at.

I am praying everyday that we get these picks.

How about we luck out and take Rivers at 13 and we move from 8 to 3 and select Kidd-Ghilchrist.
And Rivers goes on to be the next Deron Williams without the attitude.

Sometimes I wonder if I actually like the draft better than the games. This has been fun the last few years picking high. It's addicting.

That's why this isn't an exact science. It's also a "gamble" to make the safe pick as a GM, letting someone else take the talented kid that has question marks.

Hey, I'm still saying if there was a gun to my head I wouldn't know who to pick between PJ and TJ. I'm taking either over Miller though, all day.

Cyrone beat me to it, but if we're going BPA I think Zeller, Rivers, and Beal are safe picks within our range.

That depends on what criteria you are using. If you are using college performance he is a gamble. If you are using physique and athletic measurements, he is the sure thing.
Both ways have been equally unreliable.

I'd go by:
1) Work ethic/character/BBIQ
2) Size and athleticsm
3) Stats

You really can't judge Perry Jones' college performance very well....I think Baylor had a pretty selfish PG.

Not sure how much pull you have, but don't pray that the GS pick moves from 8 to 3.

True, and not to be a contrarian, but those two BOTH had this rep coming into college. I know that QMiller made a couple 'demands' of Calipari if he were to sign with UK .. and Cal told him to F off, basically. I can give a lot more detail, if needed, but it's not all on Drew (coach of Baylor).

Details are needed please.

Here are a few;

- QMiller told Cal he wanted to be the man (Cal said, then be it .. but 'the man' is earned .. this rubbed the coaching staff the wrong way)
- Cal went to an in-home and a game in a 1 week period .. after which he called the recruiting of Miller 'off.' When asked why .. Cal said, "We don't need any selfish MF's on this team."
- Miller tweeted Cal telling him he wanted to be re-recruited and wanted to attend Big Blue Madness (first practice of the year). Cal said no .. that Miller was not invited .. citing again that he didn't want "lazy, self-entitled, selfish guys" on this team.

Having been privy to all that, and respecting Coach Cal's insight, I still had Miller WAY high on my pre-season draft board .. thinking Cal was too harsh and maybe missed it with an obviously talented Quincy .......

Yeah, well I've been more impressed with PJ3 anyway. Thanks for cementing things for me. And I do think he can play the 3. Whether Corbin would play him there I don't know.

But I've liked Millsap at the 3 the few times he's played there. He even said he could see the floor better without having to be in there with all those bigs. And for all the negatives these guys have at the 3 there are also some nice positives. Done.

Hmmm, good point. I admit I never though of that angle and it makes sense. Thanks.

T-Jones is more athletic than we give him credit for.

And I think he's more capable of playing SF in the NBA than the likes of Derrick Williams and Millsap.

I agree that T Jones athletic ability is often underrated and that he is significantly more athletic than Millsap. But I think you are sales Derrick Williams short.

Something TJones has that is needed on this Jazz team is a mean streak. He has that, "I'm going to rip your head off with the rim on this dunk" mentality. (Not that the Jazz doesn't have some of that, but I think a bit more is needed. Also, TJones does NOT need anyone to help him get his shots .. he's most impressive taking his defender off the dribble. Also, as others have said, he's a monster on the boards (tough to put up dominating numbers, though, when it's MKG, TJones, and Anthony Davis sharing the boards).

FWIW, that dunk was with his off hand.
