I love how people, for whatever reason, talk about big men as if they are some rare commodity.

Out of 15 teams in the West, how many do not have a really good PF? Or at least a young one with potential to be?

Very few have the defensive ability of Favors. He has already shown he is a monster on defense.

One player has been limited due to position logjam while the other has been put in a 40 min/night position due to others' injuries. Tough to compare a 40 minute starter with an unseen potential.
I am thrilled Hayward doesn't look terrified everytime someone passes him the ball anymore, but he still looks awkward when he drives hard.
That said, in the long run, when the logjam clears, I think Favors will end up being the stronger player of the two.

His next big step in his development will either be a post up game, or the ability to finish layups with higher consistency. If Hayward had Burks' layup and body contortion ability going to the rim, he would be insane.

I'm really hoping we see a Jefferson trade this summer. The young bigs need minutes. I don't understand why you would want to bring a #3 pick off the bench for three straight years.

I agree with you the young bigs need to play more, however I am not excited to remove Al or Milsap and insert Favors/Kanter. First of all Favors is a step backward offensivley from Al, and he has yet to prove he can stay out of foul trouble. Second, if Al is gone, and Favors moves into the starting lineup who will fill the role on the second unit that Favors has? Favors is not quite as good as Al, new guy is not as talented as Favors = a step backwards for Jazz team.

KOC is the GM with a hot hand, it will be fun to watch him play this out.

We seemed to do pretty well when Favors was starting in place of Al. But generally I agree. That's not really the point, though. It's about what would be best for the development of Favors and Kanter. Three years of coming off the bench just doesn't seem ideal for developing them. I mean, do you really think Hayward would be where he's at if he had been getting the same playing time he got last year?
