the goal is to win a championship. if the jazz aren't going to win a championship in the next 2-3 years, then nash doesn't make sense as he only gets in the way of the goal.
If we get the GS pick and pick what we hope will be our future PG, what better development could he get than playing under Nash for a couple of years?
If we got the GS pick and signed Steve Nash then I'd go straight to step 2: championship run.
Nash, Favors, Sap, Jefferson, Burks, Hayward,
Trade GSW pick and Kanter for 2 solid wings who can either shoot lights out 3 or guard and score (Iggy)
That team contends and I say screw the youth movement in 3 seconds or less (while keeping it intact).
This is assuming Utah actually gets the GS pick. Nash would be around for three years, which is perfect if the Jazz get a PG in the 2013 draft. Remember, it took Stockton a couple of seasons before he was ready to start and the Jazz traded Green. Nash would have 1 year as the starter, with Harris traded before the season or at the deadline, 1 year as a mentor to a rookie who would be perfect getting 10-15 mins/per. Then in his final season, Nash would split minutes or even rest on the second night of back-to-backs, etc.this.
the guy will get offers of 3 years 30M, maybe even 3 years 40M.... if he signs for less, it will be because he's taking an MLE deal with a contender, but even then it's 3 years 20M.
you guys really want to pay that just so marshall/lillard have a guy to be their big brother who, incidentally, will block their growth because he'll be guaranteed 30-35 minutes a night?
develop kanter and get somebody good at #8, then put those guys together with favors, hayward, burks and whomever the jazz decide to keep out of al/paul and the jazz will be great for 10 years.
ditch kanter and #8 for a 38-year-old and a guy like iggy and the jazz will be great for 2 years, then be right back in "what now?" mode.
i love older men.
-Get lucky and draft Lillard
-Trade Harris to the Lakers for Darium Morris/Odom TPE (does Sessions opt-in and do they keep him?)
-Sign Steve Nash
-Set oven
Interests me. But how would this affect Hayward on the offensive end?
Sign-and-trade: Harris and a future first for Nash. Sign Nash to a 3 year-$25million deal with two years guaranteed and year three team option.
If Utah gets the GSW pick, Utah drafts Kendall Marshall and has him learn under Nash.
I'd like to see our big bangers and Nash on the court.
