John Hollinger on Jazz Big 3 - Wow, just wow.

The big lineup matches up well. against San Antonio's starters. Stick Al on Blair (who was the roll man on only 127 PnRs this season according to mysynergysports.com), Favors on Duncan and Millsap on Leonard. Tony Parker will still be a problem, but I could see that working out pretty well.

Word on SpursTalk is that Blair has been getting reduced burn, in favourite of Diaw and Splitter (moreso Splitter)

They could start Diaw, Duncan, and Splitter as the 3, 4, and 5. Would leave Favors on Duncan, and Al on Splitter

right. I have zero faith that Ty will do something other than Harris-Hayward-Carroll-Millsap-Jefferson.

my worst fear is that I come out of this series more convinced in the intransigence of Corbin and Al.

Uh, dummy this down for me bro.

Tiago is a PnR specialist.

This I know. He also averages an absurd FG% as of late. Would you suggest leaving Al at the 4, and throwing Favors at Splitter then? Because I am definitely willing to bet that we will be seeing more Tiago, than Blair. I am definitely reluctant to leave Favors on Duncan, because he will get in foul trouble awfully quick. We CANNOT have Favors in foul-trouble, or we are gonna get swept.

i mean, I fear that Corbin won't try something unorthodox when he needs to. And, I fear that Jefferson will continue to get uber-burned on PnR and not draw fouls.

Both of these dudes need to get with the times.

Hollinger's right. Spurs swing the ball so effectively that the big lineup is going to have trouble covering all that ground. What's made it effective is Favors' development defensively. He can get inside/out quick and he just swarms the ball in the lane (pretty KG-esque lately). But ideally you want speedier guys who can rotate with precision against the Spurs. I'm sure the combo of Battier/Allen was the key against the Spurs last year for Memphis.

Still, it's our best chance and I'd like to see it get a lot of minutes. More importantly, I think Favors has to be out there as much as possible with either Al or Sap. I don't want to see too much Favors/Kanter, and frankly Kanter should be used sparingly.

Spurs fan here, and yes Blair has been getting a lot less playing time as of late when everyone has played (he got something like 40 minutes against GSW) and Diaw/Splitter have been playing outstanding ball since then. Bonner's defense has picked up as well but he has a tendency to kind of fall off come playoff time.

The thing we have to keep in mind here is that there's only so much room for players on the court. We put three big guys, and it really congests the space the Spurs have to operate. The combination of Millsap, Favors, and Jefferson in the paint is enough to get a 3-second violation at any given time. Sometimes I kind of wonder what the solution is, but then I think that maybe Vlade Divac can still play ball. I know he could once, I'm sure he could again.

Hmmm. I am interested to see how the match ups play out. Unfortunately, I feel like Pop is MUCH better at adjusting in-game, than Corbin. He is a rook, after all. I know Howard or Carroll will be starting, but I am predicting a healthy dose of Sap-Favors-Al as our frontcourt for the rest of the game; we will see how the Spurs react, and whether Corbin has any counter-adjustments as a result.
