Why isnt Favors guarding Duncan?

This is how Memphis defeated the Spurs by Gasol being able to guard Duncan one on one.


When the big three was in the defense was good so they just went to Duncan and he went right at Jefferson.

Corbin has to make this adjustment.

Its the Jazz's only line-up option. Corbin must start Favors and bench Jefferson. The spurs run the high pick and roll with Duncan and Parker every time. Jefferson simply does not have the ability or desire to play it correctly. Many thought the big three line-up would help, but it does not work against the spurs. The reason should be clear. The spurs run the high pick-n-roll with Duncan and Parker and they have three other players standing out at the three point line perfectly spaced. When we play the big three with Jefferson, Parker is coming free (mostly because of Al's defense) on almost every pick. Parker has so many options once he is in the lane. Hit the floater or pass to a three point threat.

I like Big Al, but he has limitations. The Jazz have to recognize that Favors brings more to the game with his pick-n-roll defense than All brings to the game with his offense. Once Duncan goes out, bring in Jefferson. Its our only hope.

Or have Jefferson guard Parker right from the start. I'd rather he get burned up top rather than in the paint were we can't recover from his lack of defensive quickness.

Favors or Kanter could do a better job defending Duncan than AJ has done.

I thought the same thing. And I also think we should give some time to Kanter to be physical with Tim. He's not a good foul shooter and Kanter's minutes against him could help wear him down.

Who knows. Kanter's defense is a mixed bag, but I think Duncan is crafty enough to utterly destroy Kanter. Kanter's defense is best against opponents who rely on their strength, not against veterans who know how to expose rookies.

Try or not try, Jefferson played better defense overall than Kanter did in game 1.

Your right, i was referring to favors. Kanter looked so lost in just the few minutes he was in. I imagine him at one of al Jeffersons family reunions with so many deep south black people around him.
